William Russell, who played the role of Ian in the original television series, reads Bill Strutton's complete and unabridged novelisation, first published in hardback in 1965. The book went on to become part of the Target Books range of Doctor Who titles, and is one of the much-loved novelisations based on the programme. This release also features a bonus interview with William Russell, in which he recalls his memories of recording the original television serial The Web Planet, and of the time he spent on Doctor Who. Having this Dr Who adventure on VHS/DVD i found the teleplay noisy and the story some what disinteresting. But yet again i turn to audibles extensive library of Dr Who tv novelisations and wow i am captivated by the excellence pace of the piece, once again ably told by one time tv companion William Russell, who never seems to make the story dull. adding to his already reknown skill of character impersonation of the 1st doctor, his alien cfeatures are a sound to be believed. The whole story runs along nicely and at over 5hrs plus its advisable to take it in mangable chunks. 10/10.
