After his wife passed away Cal closed himself off to love however from the moment that he met Gaby he couldn’t deny his feelings for her. For the last three years he has been happy with the relationship they share but when she wants more he isn’t willing to give it so she walks out of his life.

Gaby loves Cal with her whole heart, but she needs more and has come to the sad conclusion that he will never feel the same way. She makes the decision to leave, and it will be ten months before she sees him again which doesn’t end well. He is now determined to fight for a second chance but the events of what happened when they were apart continues to cast a shadow on their second chance.

This story packs an emotional punch that I wasn’t expecting. The love that Cal and Gaby have for each other is apparent, even if Cal hasn’t yet acknowledged it, and the strength and resilience of Gaby was inspiring. The audio performance of Sebastian York was fantastic as he brought out the heat, emotion and insecurities of both these characters.

Callum/Cal and Gabrielle/Gaby's story is beautifully written, passionate, and emotional. Cal is handsome, dominant, enigmatic, and protective. Gaby is beautiful, smart, and strong. I wasn't expecting the twist in the story. The supporting characters are interesting. Sebastian York did an excellent job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it.

This was a short story, but by no means was it lacking. This book was spicy, a rollercoaster of emotions, and so much plot packed into so few pages. This was a beautifully written story and I really loved the characters. Both Gaby and Callum had been through so much and it really influenced how they acted. I was completely hooked from the beginning and I was not expecting the twist.

I loved Sebastian York's narration and he was amazing at bringing these characters to life.

Away From Me by Lexi Blake is about a man who suffered such grief at the loss of this wife that he used a contract to protect himself from that kind of loss in the future. He found a perfect submissive in Gaby Sullivan, who lived with him and cared for his home without any commitment beyond their BDSM contract. After three years, Callum Reed had the rug pulled from under his perfect life when Gaby left him and he didn’t stop her. When he found out less than a year later that Gaby had kept a secret from him, nothing would stop him from claiming her again and he was relentless in his pursuit. Seeing Gaby again at the party of a friend made Callum realize it wasn’t a perfect submissive he wanted, it was his perfect partner. This was an audiobook novella, narrated by Sebastian York. I have never listened to him and been less than 100% satisfied. The story is pretty simple, as a novella needs to be, but the feelings were there and Lexi Blake can bring the spice! I enjoyed the growth in the characters, even over such a short story. If you enjoy a spicy, BDSM themed second chance love story, then this audiobook may be for you.
