Summary

Autoimmune disorders are on the rise and have exploded over the past 7-10 years, affecting everyone from babies to children, teens, young adults, older adults, and especially women, at a rate five times greater than men!

If you haven't been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease but you have some symptoms or you have a food sensitivity issue, then you may have the initial stages of a leaky gut.

Also, if you haven't been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease but the medications that you've been taking for your diabetes or other disease haven't really helped, or you find yourself feeling worse with each passing day, then get a complete physical exam.

Why? Most people who wait end up finding out when it's too late that the autoimmune dysfunction has destroyed part of the thyroid, pancreas, joints, skin tissue, nervous system, retina tissue, or some other part of the body.

On the other hand, if you have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and you're taking steroids or some kind of immune-suppressant drug, you may want to reconsider given what these drugs do to your thyroid, immune system, and other organs and tissues.

Relying on drugs to control the symptoms or suppress your immune system only makes matters worse! In fact, suppressing your immune system can make you susceptible to frequent colds, allergies, and asthma attacks - and if it gets worse, infections, tuberculosis, pneumonia, and even cancer or some other systemic disease.

But the good news is that you can re-balance your immune system naturally to reduce the immune response and its overreaction of attacking your own healthy cells. Autoimmune disease refers to a group of more than 100 serious chronic illnesses including diseases of the nervous, gastrointestinal, and endocrine systems as well as the skin and other connective tissues, eyes, blood, and blood vessels.

Valuable Insight on Life

My Simple Changes is an honest and well written book that you can re-balance your immune system naturally to reduce the immune response and its overreaction of attacking your own healthy cells. I do not have Autoimmune Disease, but I enjoyed this book that teaches a person to get to know their body and its response to medications, foods, and life in general. The physical and mental stresses associated with Autoimmune Disease (as well as associated with life in general), are explained and the suggestions provided in the book will help the reader to develop good routines to navigate through life.

Quality

I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2000. I thought I had the flu as I was experiencing flu type symptoms. But after a week of the same symptoms, laying in bed in pain, not eating and losing weight I ended up in the ER headed for my first colonoscopy ever. The diagnosis was Crohn's disease and I was put on Prednisone and sulfasalazine. The prednisone made me "loopy" so I went off it within the second day. With weeks of bed rest and a bland diet I began to get back to normal. I took sulphasalazine for years. I would have episodes of stomach cramps and diarrhea on occasion but nothing like my first intro to Crohn's. I have had gut issues my whole life. I am 57 years old. I am no longer taking sulphasalazine because my present gastro guy said he sees no signs of Crohn's. But I continued to have intestinal issues, mainly bloating and gas. When I saw that he had written a book about autoimmune disease I was very curious to listen it. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I like Tony's way of writing. It was an easy and humorous but serious read. Plus it helped me on the way to having a better, healthier gut. I did not live through the pain and suffering. I totally have empathy for what he went through and how hard it is to function in today's world with gut issues. It is hard to eat dairy free, gluten free and to find foods without chemicals. Through listening Tony's book it put me on the path to helping myself feel better. From gluten free, dairy free, shots of cider vinegar and probiotics my gut has been a much happier camper! If you have gut issues, I recommend that you listen this audiobook. It's a daily process of trying to stay healthy. And as Tony wrotes, "Relying on drugs to control the symptoms or suppress your immune system only makes matters worse! In fact, suppressing your immune system can make you susceptible to frequent colds, allergies, and asthma attacks - and if it gets worse, infections, tuberculosis, pneumonia, and even cancer or some other systemic disease." Here's to you, Tony! Good job and I wish you well!!

Game changer for autoimmunity!

This book resonated with me on a multitude of levels. It is written is such a way that you not only relate to the author, due to sharing the same disease process, and many of the same medical adventures that accompany it, but also on a hopeful, and empowering level. Learning that lifestyle changes can ultimately lead to successful remission brings enthusiasm, hope, and positivity! An easy, and enjoyable read as well... I STRONGLY recommend this book, as well as implementing “The Power of the Subconscious Mind”.

My mom also agrees

I loved this book! I thought this book was very interesting from start to finish! I listened it in two days. Many members of my family have struggled with various autoimmune diseases, and it was very enlightening to me. I learned a lot about food, how to take care of my body, how to avoid toxic components in my life, but most importantly, how to be happy and healthy in my day to day life. I love listening about food, nutrition, and what affects it has on your body. I learned more in this book than I ever did from my doctor about how foods can make you feel. I love the story line and how this disease affection occured. Very good listen! I passed the book along to my Mom! She also agrees she can’t put it down!

There is hope!

I have been trying to gather all the information from multiple sources to create a road map to overcome Crohn's disease for my teenage son (from diet, to supplements, lifestyle changes etc.) and convince him to apply it to our lives. Tony William had already done this -in his real life with success. Sorry MDs but sometimes patients know more than the doctors. I have this book to share with my son NOW - no more wasting time. Thank you Tony for sharing your thoughts and giving us hope.

Sound advice

Wow...I am in awe! Tony finds a way to keep a sense of humor, and gratitude. Thank you for writing this book to help others. I have family members and friends suffering from similar problems and this book has been a huge help! Lists of foods to avoid, recipes, help with inflammation-healing foods, anxiety, exercise and much more. I used my highlighter as I read because there is so much information. I am ready to begin with "my simple changes"! Stay willing

A Real Wake Up Call

This author is an inspiration in the task of taking charge of your life and well being based upon what you are consuming. A wholesome, midwestern, seemingly healthy person spirals to near death and has to take control of his medical life and diet in order to survive. Now healthy, now fully cognizant of the consequences of indiscriminate ill advised food intake, this author passes on his real life experience to those of us who ignore what we are eating. The incurable becomes cured because Tony ignored the cynical medical community and took charge of his life. Listen this audiobook and benefit from his sage advise.

Get life back!

Never before have I stopped to ponder on my own health and previous health issues so much before listening this audiobook. This book is a wake up call informing me that my current eating habits could be to blame and to combat my issues I need to fix my mentality towards what I am putting into my body.

Comprehensive and Helpful

I have two autoimmune diseases and I listen this book. I feel that this book made me aware of things that I didn't know before. The doctors hardly have the time to explain what you have, none of the less describe it in any details. It was very informative and extremely helpful! I am so glad to have this book and I will go to whenever I need further guidance. Thank you!!!

Something for Everyone

Still working my way through this one but it's a very informative book on various autoimmune diseases. I like that the book really takes you through each disease and gives information outside of what you can find on the internet. It also teaches and stresses how to care for yourself.

Help yourself or someone you know

For anyone who is struggling with any kind of ailments that may not have an answer. He has had to deal with a truly terrible disease and all the challenges to go along with it and found a way to control it instead of letting it control him. I do not have Crohn's myself, however after listening this audiobook and becoming more aware of the different reactions to food our body has have been able to be more careful about what I put into my body and have been feeling better as a result.

Best Bloodwork In 10 years

I have PBC, an autoimmune disease where my body attacks the bile ducts of my liver. Since I've listened one of his other books. I think he has a unique perspective. I've already had my liver enzymes reduced dramatically. Still need to get the test results as to if my body is still attacking my liver bile ducts.

Living Well with Autoimmune Disease

I have a painful autoimmune disease and I learned quite a bit about autoimmune diseases in general. It was a helpful book for me to listen and I refer back to it for information, quite a bit.
