Editor reviews

Eleanor Nilsson’s Helping Out tells the story of young protagonist Hayley, whose life has recently gone to the dogs - not only has her best friend moved away, but she didn’t make the school swim team - and there’s nothing Hayley loves more than swimming! When she starts volunteering at a local thrift store with her grandmother, though, a quirky patron might (just maybe!) start to turn things around....

Voice actor Stig Wemyss skillfully navigates the blend of seriousness and humor in this enjoyable and accessible short. Wemyss is a deft and extremely adept performer whose pacing and vocal characterization are impeccable, making it easy to get lost in this engaging audiobook.

Summary

Life falls apart for Hayley when she doesn't make the swimming squad, and her best friend moves away. But then something very surprising happens...
