Summary

Her blood is toxic to vampires.

If there is one thing eighteen-year-old Aurora Sky wants, it's to get off the iceberg she calls home. Being kissed before she graduates wouldn't hurt either.

Then a near-fatal car wreck changes everything. Government agents step in and save Aurora's life in exchange for her services as a vampire hunter in Alaska. Basically she's a glorified chew toy. All thanks to her rare blood type, which sends a vampire into temporary paralysis right before she has to finish the job - by hand.

Now Aurora's only friends are groupies of the undead and the only boy she can think about may very well be a vampire.

(Mature YA/New Adult. Contains mild language, violence, sexual situations...and blood sucking.)

A great start to the series

If you could sum up Aurora Sky in three words, what would they be?

Fierce, exciting and modern

Any additional comments?

I loved this modern twist in the vampire genre. The characters are full of life, energy and attitude which makes it very relevant for young adult readers.I loved Aurora and how she dealt with her trauma. She isn't given any choice in the matter of becoming a government assassin/vampire hunter but she faces it head on and deals with it in her own way.I felt that Aurora's emotional transformation after her accident was very well written and I thought that it made her seem more realistic. I could understand why she would grow apart from her normal friends and start hanging out with a more rebellious crowd. Her change in personality made the story line very interesting and the way she toughens up with each new experience with vampires makes her seem very believable as a vampire hunter.I loved the supporting characters and I look forward to seeing how Aurora deals with the conflicting task of hunting and killing vampires whilst being in love with one of them. The story was fast paced and the narration was excellent. I will definitely be checking out the rest of this series.I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Aurora Sky Vampire Hunter

When Aurora Sky is involved in a fatal car accident, she wakes in a white room to discover that her life has changed completely. Due to her special AB- blood, she's had her organs replaced and literally been brought back to life. But it's for a good cause, she's now a vampire hunter. When a vamp drinks her blood, he is temporarily paralysed, giving her the opportunity to finish him off. But Aurora thinks she may have been better off dying, because this is not the life she wanted, she had plans. Get out of Alaska and go to college.

I really took to Aurora. She's angry with her new situation and not very pleasant in the beginning but that's to be expected. I really wouldn't want to be her.

Fane is an enticing love interest and I really enjoyed their moments together. I'm not sure how I feel about Dante, sometimes I like him and sometimes he just annoys me. But overall, I enjoyed the characters in this book.

This book definitely left me wanting more. I only listen to audiobooks on my drive to and from work, but I found I wanted to listen to this one more. I couldn't wait to see what was coming next. I've bought the second audiobook and I can't wait to get started on it.

“You are about to meet your first vampire, Aurora. I’ll warn you, he’s no Edward Cullen.”

On a side note, the narrator of this book was probably the best I've listened to so far. Her name is Em Eldridge, and I'll definitely be looking out for her again.

A great main character in a great book

What did you like most about Aurora Sky?

I like the realistic way that Aurora reacts to the situation that she finds herself forced into. Her new normality. This culminates in her new years list that then propels her for the rest of the book.

What other book might you compare Aurora Sky to, and why?

I'm not sure as its not like most of the books I read. But maybe a cooler and more adult and grittier version of twilight.

Which character – as performed by Em Eldridge – was your favourite?

Aurora is brilliant. The narration really brings her to life in an accessible way.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I listened to it in two sittings in fact.
