Our two main characters find themselves at the same NewYear's Eve party and rekindle their friendship and the detective agency they had created as children. The female is definitely the dominant one in this couple and the driving force behind the investigation where they feel the authorities are making mistakes. Apart from all the social advantages of connections, they are not troubled by financial concerns of paying for their time. The body of a young woman is found at the party. Many of the guests and some not at the party become suspects and the possible motives also vary. A connection with the detective in the case is ambivalent with Saffron and her connection trying to play each other. Very Agatha Christie style climax and reveal with all the suspects in same room. I felt the resolution was satisfying more than spectactular.

Because Saffron Ellis is English, albeit with a colourful upbringing and travel experiences, the narrator spoiled it for me with inconsistent accent and mangling some words or phrases. Apart from the English accent attempts, I was sometimes confused whether a male or female was speaking.
