Summary

The basic tenet of attachment theory is that a person's emotional attachments influence the ways in which the individual deals with problematic situations. And the way one deals with problematic situations influences the person's relations with others. This book explains what attachment theory is and how mental illness in adults, including relationship problems, can be explained in terms of it.

great explanations of ocd and borderline

sober yet incisive, the author traces disturbances of object-relations in adulthood to early-life disturbances of such relations, then maps such disturbances onto the corresponding pathologies, sheds a striking light on the usual suspects (ocd, bpd, npd).

Great content!

I loved the content. It explains how people learn to deal with abandonment and how to become a healthy adult. The book includes really good research on attachment patterns. You can see how the infants turn into adults who are either clingy or balanced based on the our attachment patterns. Highly recommend for psychology professors who want to provide their students with the best track out there on this topic. Also helpful for those in the dating world who just want to recognize whether a dating partner is going to be jealous and emotionally demanding.

Very Informative

As an author, I am always doing research. Thus work really gave me an insight into mental health and issues that can cause certain issues to develop at infancy. I highly recommend.
