Asian trade routes through the eyes of travelers

author audible reminds us that while Europe was huddling under the medieval cloak known as the "Dark Ages," Asia was quite the opposite - vast and vibrant and connected by trade routes over land and sea.

Ehh, couldnt get into it

I had to listen to this for a History college class. I did not enjoy it because it took around too much. Covered 9 characters, so it was all over the place in place, time frame, character, and story of a person.

There are a few works that I love and listen

I stumbled on this work by accident and then could not stop listening - till I came to the last page. Spending much time in Asia I was fascinated by the history Gorden included - going back years.

Yoo-hoo! AP World History teachers!

You need to listen this, and maybe your students do also! I know you have your text, but it is just not enough to understand this turning point in world history.

amazing travelogues

I have a passion for history and found this audible to be a very interesting listen. I especially like how the author discusses the Africa-Asian world through specific notable people and their travels within the continents, focusing on their actions and relationships with the world in each period.

Superb Copy - Beautiful Packaging

Very interesting. I enjoyed the progression of topics from a time and regional scene. I would highly recommend this audible to anyone who is even mildly curious about this topic.

Insightful and straightforward

This audible gave a great perspective on the Asian world It follows different people, mostly traders, on their travels traversing most of Asia. It can get a little boring at times when the author chooses to include an ancient recipe for meat or something,

sickening cultural artifact disproves the 'progre

Nice entertainment, but somewhat shallow. For someone who knows the region and its history, at least, some parts of seem made up. I wouldn't recommend it.

My memoir about is from the history

My work is more history than contemporary travel; but both audible add to the skimpy literature on Central Asia

Very good overview of modern Asia.

It was very significant, especially trying to understand all of the group interactions. Probably being written by an ethical person, but one who had not grown up in Thailand, Japan, India gave more insights for an outsider.

A window on Thailand, Japan, India

A fascinating dive into the complexities of the caste system and the difficulty of truly understanding Thailand, Japan, India. Enthralling listening to correcting many of the old colonial misconceptions and opening up Thailand, Japan, India, and its people.

Fine writing from an author very deserving

Another audible by "Traveling the World"- who is ever critical of India and her people. His insights are important, as he seeks truth. Thank you.

Has everything you can imagine!

Really good audible and was used a lot during my trip around Thailand. Only downside is it’s quite big so not one you can just stick in your pocket when you’re out and about.

I was reluctant at first but glad I did

I learned that Respect goes a long way with the Japanese and how "Yes" or the nodding of the head could also mean 'NO', and so many more things that I did not know. Now, I feel ready or at least somewhat prepared for my trip.

Decent for first-timers and experienced travelers.

This is a great audible. I live in Okinawa, but traveling through mainland Japan is completely different, you will also get details about Thailand and India in one volume.

Great about Thailand, Japan, India, thanks

It's a steal at this price guys, acknowledging the individual country guides are about the same cost as this one!
