Asian trade routes through the eyes of travelers

author audible reminds us that while Europe was huddling under the medieval cloak known as the "Dark Ages," Asia was quite the opposite - vast and vibrant and connected by trade routes over land and sea.

Ehh, couldnt get into it

I had to listen to this for a History college class. I did not enjoy it because it took around too much. Covered 9 characters, so it was all over the place in place, time frame, character, and story of a person.

Somewhat good work.

I am a little bit disappointed with this audible, it doesn't cover all of Asia (Thailand, Japan, India). In fact, there wasn't much to this volume, especially for the cost areas of the countries.

Kata, Hat Karon, and Kamala beaches see a lot

Kata, Hat Karon, and Kamala beaches see a lot of tourists during the high season (November to February) but remain sleepy little villages once the rains arrive. Beautiful coral reefs line up the coastline, offering amazing opportunities for snorkeling and diving but also sea kayaking and island hopping.

While the lake is too salty to support aquatic

While the lake is too salty to support aquatic life, there are plenty of animals that call the surrounding desert home—and hikers will run into anything from hares to foxes and leopards when exploring the nature reserves around the Dead Sea.

Excellent

While the coastline around the lake has become a flourishing spa and resort destination, there is also a large influx of religious tourism in the area. Jericho, the city where Jesus is said to have healed blind beggars, is located just minutes northwest of the Dead Sea—and a number of other cities, including the legendary Sodom and Gomorra, as well as Zoar and Admah, are also located in this area. The area boasts some of the oldest inhabited cities in the world.

While many visitors come here to just photograph

While many visitors come here to just photograph this World Heritage List Cultural Site and well-known symbol of Japan, others arrive for the climbing opportunities. Until the late 19th century, women were not allowed to make their way to the summit (which is still considered a sacred site), so visitors of all ethnicities, genders, and ages now arrive to make up for lost time.

Although Mount Fuji is an active stratovolcano, it hasn't erupted since 1708. The stunning snowcapped mountain is one of Japan's "Three Holy Mountains," which are traditionally considered to hold a particular power—Mount Fuji has volcanic power.

In addition to the adventure sports, Queenstown offers all the creature comforts, with first-class hotels, spas, restaurants, galleries, and shops. It's also a great base for sightseeing trips to the Central Otago region, where visitors can explore gold-mining towns and the Middle Earth scenery from the popular Lord of the Rings movies.

In the center of the North Island and just a few

In the center of the North Island and just a few kilometers from glittering Lake Taupo, New Zealand's largest lake, lies Tongariro National Park. A dual World Heritage Site due to its spectacular volcanic features and its importance to the Maori culture, the volcanic peaks of Tongariro, Ngauruhoe, and part of Ruapehu were in fact gifted by Maori chief Te Heuheu Tukino IV in 1887 to the people of New Zealand in order to preserve this sacred land.

I never could have gotten myself because she has such great contacts. For example, she arranged for us to stay at an apartment in Queenstown with the most fantastic views of the lake and the perfect location to all the stores and restaurants in town. This is one of her little "secret" places -
