Publisher's Summary

"It's been a quiet week in Lake Wobegon, my hometown."

Garrison Keillor first did his monologue in 1974 to an audience of 20 in a St. Paul theater. Today, more than 2.2 million people tune in each week to hear the tall tales and sweet stories about the citizens of this small Minnesota town. It's a town where "the women are strong, the men are good-looking, and all of the children are above average". Keillor's monologues capture the nuances of country life and of growing up American with eloquence and subtle humor: the luxury of rhubarb pie, the Krebsbachs' thrifty vacation, the vapor lights of Our Lady of Perpetual Responsibility. Step into "the little town that time forgot" and you'll forget it's not your own town, yet feel so close to home.

Delivery: Weekly, Saturdays

    "A reply from Audible"

We would love to be able to offer our customers the complete Prairie Home Companion each week. Unfortunately, we have not been given the rights to do so from the other guests and musicians on the program. We're happy that we're at least able to share Garrison Keillor's monologues with our loyal listeners!

"Where's the rest of the show???????"

Fifteen minutes was a huge disappointment, sure I enjoy GK stories/News, but where's the music and other characters and reviews of guests. I subscribed to it today and regret I did. I regret on behaf of listeners everywhere, not to hear the show in it'sglorious, humourous, entirity.

    "Talking just to fill time."

Had the month subscription. At first it was interesting, but it soon got annoying listening to this guy talk just to talk. I love to hear older people tell stories, but this guy was talking for no good reason.
