Publisher's Summary

I'm the Man is the fast-paced, humorous, and revealing memoir from the man who cofounded Anthrax, the band that proved to the masses that brutality and fun didn't have to be mutually exclusive. Through various lineup shifts, label snafus, rock 'n' roll mayhem, and unforeseen circumstances galore, Scott Ian has approached life and music with a smile, viewing the band with deadly seriousness while recognizing the ridiculousness of the entertainment industry. Always performing with abundant energy that revealed his passion for his craft, Ian has never let the gravity of being a rock star go to his shaven, goateed head.

I'm the Man is a blistering hard rock memoir, one that is astonishing in its candor and deftly told by the man who's kept the institution of Anthrax alive for more than 30 years.

    "What a tale."

Brilliant and interesting listen from Scott Ian, who has honed his narrative style by touring his spoken words show, which was also amazing. If you love rock or metal, you'll love this one.

    "In depth"
Where does I'm the Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Comparing this to other Metal bios this is one of the best. Mustaine's book, for example, was all war stories I've heard over the last 30 years. This book gets into the real meat of his history and would put it up there with some of the best history books I've read.

What about Scott Ian’s performance did you like?

The Fifty-Year Mission, which is a long Star Trek biography. The detail, depth, and perspective is second to none in those two books. Scott Ian covering his own history is equally as deep.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Scott's performance overall. I'd put his narration up there with Michael Caine's autobiography.

    "ehhhhh,,,"

I was excited to see this book having been an Anthrax fan since the beginning, I loved Fist of Metal when it came out, i believe I saw them for the first time at the Bronco bowl in Dallas around 85 or 86, and several more times since, I remember the original Pantera look he speaks of, having seen them hundreds of times. Having said that, I was disappointed to find out how much damage he did to the band over the years, and takes little or no responsibility for all the bad decision he made while he was supposedly at the helm,,, nono it wasnt me, it was Electra, what ever. He spouts new found wisdom as if the rest of the world didnt get that all worked out in their early 20s. Thanks for the sermon genius.

    "I wish it was longer"

The only problem with this book is that it should be longer. The histories are funny and well described. I look forward to the follow up. Scott left some parts of his history with little or no explanation. I guess it’s his prerogative, but as a fan, I want to hear more. Rock on Scott🤘🏻

    "I'm the fan"

a fantastic read, top-notch stuff! As a fan of metal music my entire life and comic books and horror , I relate so much to this guy although I wonder why Frankie's brother's death was not mentioned in this book, I'm sure he had his reasons. pick this one up, you will not be disappointed. many great stories of all the other bands you love too.
