Summary

A BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisation of Evelyn Waugh's stunning, tragi-comic novel of the lives, loves, and mores of the English aristocracy. The action moves between 1923 and 1944, to tell the story of Charles Ryder and his infatuation with the decadent Sebastian Flyte.

Fabulous rendition

Easy to follow as characters were easily identified - I love the story which I found had unusual aspects for its genre and location in time.

Almost perfect, thoroughly enjoyed

This is one of my all time favourite stories and I have looked forward to listening to this on Audio books, it was very nearly perfect and the voice over artists who play all of the main characters were superb, as one would expect, however I dropped a star on the performance as it was rather let down by the person who plays the character of 'Hooper'.
Why oh why did they make him a Brummy with a West Midlands accent, that was way off, I could have perhaps lived with it if it had been done well, but that is the dodgiest accent I have ever heard in all of the audiobooks....period!
However, I will keep this version of the audio book as I did really enjoy it, just those cringey bits with 'Hooper'that made me bristle every time I head him speak - thank goodness he only plays a small part at the beginning and end.....
It would even be worth taking that voiceover off and dropping a new one in....it really would make all the difference...
Other than that, it was great!
