Summary

The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl: The Artic Incident, read by the actor Gerry O’Brien.

Someone has been supplying Class-A illegal human power sources to the goblins. Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon Unit is sure that her archenemy, 13-year-old Artemis Fowl, is responsible.

But is he? Artemis has his own problems to deal with: his father is being held to ransom and only a miracle will save him. Maybe this time a brilliant plan just won’t be enough. Maybe this time Artemis needs help....

Revisiting a childhood favourite was worth it!

I read most of the Artemis foul series as a child and young teen, I loved them then, and I still love them now. At 32 the story is still gripping and the narrator has done a fantastic job in bringing the characters to life. Definitely made the correct choice in revisiting this series while I had lost inspiration for a new book.

Im falling in love with this series

Since I moved to Ireland I saw this books, read the first one physically and started with the audiobooks due to lack of time, and I’m loving this books

The audio is quite nicely narrated and the voice changes to represent each character is going great

Frantic paced action adventure

My two boys (aged 8 and 10) were on the edges of their seats with this one. The beauty of the Artemis Fowl books is that they are not obviously written for children, so the language and concepts feel adult.

Artemis explains "difficult" concepts to "stupid" adults in small words because he is, after all, a boy genius. This rather helps any confused 8 year olds in the back of the car keep up. The fact that there seems to be rather too many stupid adults in it is a small gripe. In fact the most intelligent people seem to be the fairies, but I suppose that's the whole point.

Personally I love all the cliff hangers ... you can almost hear the cinematic BA BA BAAA music as the action plays out. We have indeed sat in the car for a few minutes more, just to get to a suitable cliff hanger in order to turn it off before school. You never have to wait long.
