About this listen
Emily:
Falling for my brother’s best friend wasn’t a choice.
He left and never looked back.
While he was basking in the glory of his football career, I was busy single handedly raising our son.
Now, after seven years of learning how to be the perfect mum, I faltered the second I came face to face with Beckett Ashmore, the guy that was my first everything was now the guy claiming he didn’t know.
Beckett:
Football was my life until I met Emily Ryton, my best friend’s sister.
She became more to me than just a girl.
She became the love of my life.
Now, after seven years, I finally see her again and it’s as if time stands still, causing me to relive all the happy memories we had.
That is until I learned someone was trying their damndest to keep us apart, by keeping the secret of all secrets from me…
I had a son.
And now not even the wrath of god will keep me away from them.
*Anteros' Return is a sweet Brother's best friend, second chance, sports standalone romance with a HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhanger.

This is my first sports romance in a very long time (altho its not focused around this) I adored every second of it.
Beautifully written characters, A Fun emotional second chance romance, Fast paced, im not normally a fan of past and present but this was well written it really give you what these characters were like in ther younger years, and there Attraction & love for each other from there eyes met. Samantha really has really written a beautiful story here and I cannot wait to lisen the next instalment, in this series. 🧁
Both narrators were wonderful at narrating Emily (Kiri Savage) & Beckett (Sean Masters) there exceptional narrators.
My first kiss. My first love. My first everything. Nobody, and I repeat nobody, would ever come close to her. She was my be all and end all. Until I lost her the second I left.
I adored this second chance sports romance

Overall Thoughts: This was a very sweet, and heartwarming story and something I definitely needed after listening to so many darker books recently. While there is some heartbreak, the hope the blossoms throughout the book is great and heartfelt. This was a nice introduction to Samantha and her writing, and who doesn’t love an MMC with an accent. This was also my first book narrated by Kiri, and if you know me, I have a hard time with fem narrators with native accents…don’t know why, I just do, but I like Kiri and the way her voice fit the FMC. I’ve also listened to a lot…a lot a lot, of Sean recently and I’m not mad about it, but him using an accent helped me to differentiate between his characters and the books. If you are looking for a wholesome book this is one to listen to. The only issue I had was the time jumps since there were multiples in the chapters as opposed to separate chapters for the flashbacks.
Narration: Duet narration, first-person present tense, multiple-POV with many flashbacks
Tropes: Football (soccer), single mom, high school sweethearts, second chance, cute and spunky kid, betrayal, miscommunication, manipulation (outside the main characters), big gestures, he fights to win her back, best friend’s sister, he’s injured, he coaches her (their) son
Overall: 4 ❤️
Spice: 2.5 🌶️
Humor: 2 😂
Drama: 2 🎭
Darkness: 2 🖤
Narration: 4.5 🎧
Emily is doing just fine. She has her family and her son, and the house she always dreamed of, but it has been nearly nine years since the man she loved left for bigger things and never looked back, even when he found out she was pregnant with his child.
Beckett suffered what could be a season-ending injury and was instructed to rest, so he decides to spend his recovery time back home with his family, in the hometown, where the girl he has always loved still lives.
When they come face to face again, emotions run high, and their connection is still electric with a love that never died for either of them. When they find out about the betrayal and the truth of what happened all those years ago, will they be able to put the hurt and guilt aside to get the second chance they both desperately want?
Sweet, second chance, single mom romance

This book happens to have the 3 tropes I dislike the most, which is the pregnancy, second chance and miscommunication trope. Why I still went for the ALC? Well because of the forever same reason, I had a feeling🤭
And my feelings we’re spot on! This book was like a warm hug between all my dark reads. Beckett, Emily and Liam own a piece of my heart now. I loved the longing, swooning, the hurt/comfort/ healing journey. Beckett is the best bookboyfriend a girl could ask for. He is not only dreamy, but he’s also sweet, protective and his love language is act of service. Yess please🫠.
Emily however is such a good mom, strong and warm character. And Liam my little man is the most coolest, sassy and polite kid all in one.
Also I don’t want to spoil anything, but the revelation in this book, is on I didn’t see coming. Or maybe a little, but not this extent of it. I mean this had my mind go like🤯 The actual nerve and audacity!
This audiobook is in duet narration, which is my fave! @kirisavagenarrator and @seanmastersaudio deliverd an amazing performance! And bounced of each other emotions through these amazing characters perfectly♥️.
So if you’re in for a swooning/cozy read with a some trauma and great banter. Then I highly recommend giving this audiobook a go🫶🏾
A warm hug with a trauma/healing journey🤍 Loved it!

I struggled a little with Emily's reluctance to give Beckett another a chance as he hadn't done anything wrong. I understand Emily was hurt but at times it came across as a bit one sided as she kept mentioning Beckett never coming back to see her and believing so little in her but then she did the exact same thing with him. That being said there are so many sweet moments I loved; the bee, Liam and Beckett bonding and Kayla gets a mention as being the best enabler I have come across in a while!
I enjoyed Kiri Savage's narration of Emily; she had a really unique husky tone and her accent was spot on. Sean Masters' is one of my favourites and although it took me a second to get used to his english accent I was here for his take on the greenest of green flags, Beckett, and his Liam performance was very cute.
