Story
The scene of this entertaining story is laid in a charming English village. The plot centres round Miss Barbara Buncle, a maiden lady who was obliged to write a book because – as she naively explained – her dividends were so poor. Unfortunately, Miss Buncle had no imagination, so she wrote about her friends – quite kindly and truthfully, of course, for she was a benevolent and veracious soul.

Barbara Caruso is excellent
The entire series is so wonderful, very engaging, nothing objectionable. And Barabara Caruso feels like a friend, her narration is the very best. I now judge all other narrators by her.

This Narrator nails it!
If you could sum up Anne of Avonlea in three words, what would they be?
I have read this book probably 20 times and seen the movie as many times. The narrator makes all the difference in the world to a very familiar and loved story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Anne of Avonlea?
I love the Davey character. Even better as he was narrated. I find myself saying after recently listening to thi sbook again "Why (insert question here)...I wanna know."
Have you listened to any of Barbara Caruso’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
In Anne of green Gables...and she was the reason why I chose her narration on this second book. Some reviewers complained she was a bit over the top...I thought she captured Anne in all her essence...and the so important supporting characters. She had a wonderful range that made her believable as most of the characters.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I ALWAYS CRY no matter how many times I read this book. SO TOUCHING.
Any additional comments?
A must read for all little girls..from young to old. I am almost 40 now and love the story just as much as I did when I was a little girl.

I bought this book for my wife, who loved "The Anne Books" while she was growing up. And my wife loved this audio version as well. The narration does an excellent job capturing the moods and voices of each character. Great audio quality, too.

Anne if Avonlea.
Barbra Caruso is one of the best readers I have listened to, she makes Anne live and breath. As for Anne she is a classic that I will never tire of. Sweet, innocent and Joyful. Who couldn't use more of that in life.

Anne girl
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Slow Talking Narrator
I enjoyed the book but the Narrator was slow in her reading and kept taking long pauses. She either ended a sentence or a paragraph I could never figure out. This book is not as good as the first but I would recommend getting the book, just pick a different narrator.

Magical!
Barbara Crusoe makes the Anne of Green Gables series come alive so magically that it feels as if each time I listen, I am hearing the story for the first time. Simply beautiful readings of the descriptive passages and a perfect rendering of Davy and Paul. I highly recommend!
