The hilarious feminist account of the female body by the award-winning comedian
'HILARIOUS' Daily Telegraph
'Brilliant' Frankie Boyle
Sometimes Sara Pascoe confuses herself. She gets wildly and pointlessly jealous. She spends too much time hating her bum. And you know what she hates more than her bum? Her preoccupation with her bum. She's had sexual experiences with boys she wasn't really into, but still got a post-coital crush on them. She's ruined brand-new relationships by immediately imagining them going into reverse.
There was so much about her behaviour that Pascoe wanted to understand. So she started researching what makes us - women - tick. And what she read made her eyes fall out of her face. Reader, here is everything science has to tell us about love, sexuality, infidelity, boobs, periods, pubes, broodiness, and clever old fat. Merry Christmas and Hallelujah! Suddenly being a woman doesn't look like such a minefield after all.

This beautifully expressed book helps us be compassionate and forgiving to ourselves. And is funny.

Amazing book - a must for all humans

Sara is preachy, and shouty, and she is correct! There are so many topics and views that Sara discussed and reveals that had not even crossed my mind. I am a gay, white male (mostly), and thank Sara for sharing this experience. I learned a lot about her, and about the natural world, humanity, and our woman failing society. I really do agree with the suggestions made about teaching children together and thoroughly, and about sex related crime courts. Everyone should read/listen to this and begin their journey to better understanding and empathy.

Well said!

Entertaining and nicely balanced mixture of personal and researched. Very accessible overview of biological sexuality, focusing mainly on heterosexual and female perspective; addressing popular misconceptions and outlining science-based theories of how sexual function and behaviour may have evolved, and how hormones affect our thoughts and feelings. Takes a critical look at how patriarchy in society has shaped attitudes towards sex, relationships and women.

As a comedian, the author is a skilled narrator, and the humour acts to frame the serious, making this book primarily an easy and enjoyable listen, with some harder topics (rape) treated in a sensitive way. As a writer with academic background in humanities - not biology - her voice is one of heartfelt and curious exploration, and she takes an analytical approach to tackling her own preconceptions and biases. A thought-provoking, great read for young adults, and even for older adults like myself. Having had an interest in popular science articles on these issues, many of the ideas were familiar to me, but I still found a good few surprises and delights in this perspective.

Funny and very informative. Every teenager should listen to this book - everyone! Sex education in schools is not adequate. Some of the things mentioned in Sara's book I didn't learn until I was about 25. I would have avoided years of feelings of shame and guilt if I'd known I was perfectly normal. :)

Essential read for all teenagers!

I wish I'd had this book as a teen. Still affects me as a 30-year-old.

All girls, boys, women and men, should read this book
