Summary

Do you often get mad when someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you feel something push you so hard from inside out when your child is disrespectful of you or someone at the office refuses to cooperate? Do you end up breaking all the plates in the kitchen because your husband said something sore? Such is an indication of anger. Well, violence is something that is entirely normal and even considered a healthy emotion.

Anger can be emotional or physical and may happen when we don’t feel well, threatened, experience loss, or feel rejected. One important thing that you have to bear in mind is that pain alone does not bring anger. It is that pain coupled with thoughts that trigger feelings of anger. These thoughts in most cases are personal assumptions, assessments, interpretations, and evaluations of circumstances that make us feel as though someone is intentionally trying to cause us to hurt. It is in such a case that anger is considered a social emotion, which means that your passion has a target to which it directs. When we allow anger to get out of our control, it can cause lots of problems, whether in your marriage, in your workplace, or even on the train. It is anger that affects the overall quality of your life.

This book will help you understand all there is to know about rage, types, causes, signs, and the perfect ways in which you can control it. Come with me, and let’s learn how to get anger under control!

Here is a preview of what you'll learn...

Approachable and valuable guide

Although anger is an issue that applies to all people, that's outside the scope of this particular book. Men can have a very complicated relationship with anger, and the author does a great job of exploring the nuances and undercurrents that are likely relevant to many men and male-identified people. This workbook makes the process of dealing with anger very approachable in an organized, step-by-step fashion. As a therapist, I feel that re-education is often one of the first steps to healing, and I feel this workbook does a great job of this, in addition to using engaging techniques that offer a real opportunity for growth. I also appreciate that anger is externalized which can make it easier for clients to look at and address their problems effectively and without becoming overwhelmed with shame. I believe this will be a valuable tool for therapists to use with clients, or even for people to explore their anger on their own!

Trying to make him a better man

I purchased this book as a birthday gift for my brother. He's a sweet guy but get's easily frustrated and let's his angry explode. When he get's angry he doesn't know how to control it and it takes a lot for him to calm down. But he's really been showing an interest in working on himself because he wants to marry his girlfriend. This book is good for him and any other man wanting to be a better more controlled guy. It's not a "feel like your in therapy" book. It more of a "listen and reason" type of book. It puts things into perspective and makes you look at why you get angry, how it affects you and those around you and how to work on it. But it has a way of really changing your view. I've always been a person who likes to write so the fact that you journal throughout is a plus for Me. I was given the opportunity to review this book at a discounted rate for my honest opinion and unbiased review and I would buy it full priced because it's well worth it.

I was interested in this book

I was interested in this book because growing up I had a close relative to me that was what I would consider a very angry person. I was around this person daily and never knew what exactly he had going on. This book helped me understand what exactly was going on and how I might be able to predict and change the overall outcome when I spotted it. What I did not expect to find out in this book is also just a general overview for anger in men and women in general.

Great Book

My husband can have quite a temper sometimes, but is never violent. When I saw this free for my audibleI had to get it. I thought this might help him not to anger so quickly. This has been helpful for him. The book is laid out in an organized fashion and explained in simple terms. It does not talk down to you though. This is a very interactive book and I think it helps to write stuff out. For me, it helps me really. This book is rather short, but it is not meant to be a substitute to seek out mental health counselor. This is a great introduction to getting your anger under control. I would recommend this to anyone.

Very helpful and illuminating.

I’ve been dealing with anger all of my life. I’ve had a hard time finding a book that helps sort through the tangled mess that anger creates. This book does just that. I like that it explains anger in both physiological and psychological terms. Anger is a normal and natural emotion. It’s how you react to it that makes all the difference. This book gives you many tools and applications for taking back control. It also uncovers a lot of the underlying factors that contribute to anger. I highly recommend it!

Highly recommended

This book is excellent. It covers all the bases of physiology behind anger, psychoeducation, self care and relaxation, techniques for managing anger and ways to identify choice or control, as well as taking responsibility for one's anger.

The prompts are pertinent and give great opportunities for reflection. There are also additional resources listed at the end of the book.

I look forward to using this with my clients.

I have learned new ways

I have learned new ways of coping, and I have seen a definite decrease of anger spells and fits of 'uncontrollable' rage. You have to practice what you listen, actively, even when you dont want to. This is worth the money. Hopefully this can help you like it helped me.

Life changing information

I was struggling with the Anger problem for years, maybe its because of some past issues, I'm not sure. I was really bad at anger management. But this book has opened my eyes towards understanding the root cause and how to overcome this issue. This book was a high motivation and inspiration for me to overcome this issue. Its been a wonderful listen which I was able to finish in single sitting. The author has researched deep into the root cause and the solution for it. His writing language is simple and I believe it should be easily understood by everyone. I'm seeing the changes in my life and I believe in short time I'll be able to overcome this anger issue which is causing lot of distress and tension in my relationship. I would highly recommend this book to people who are struggling to overcome this problem but didn't know the strategy to do it so far. Please give it a try and see the result. A five star book.

Should every man get this book

I was not into doing this at all. After breaking an expensive laptop due to anger my wife bought it anyways. I am pleasantly surprised. I am not following it perfectly but just the activities and listening the main points have really opened my eyes to my anger issues. I find many of these things I’m doing with out even realizing it. When I listen it I immediately look at my wife and say OMG this is exactly what I do. It makes you feel awful to listen and have to process what your actually doing and hurting your loved ones. I would recommend this to any man even if they think they don’t have anger issues. We’ve never had and major marriage issues. This book with help you strengthen and bring you and your partner closer together anyways. It may be very tough but it really helps to open up to them and just tell them everything. It has definitely brought us closer together!

Give it a try please

I received a review of this book in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I was a little surprised to get this because I have had anger issues my whole life and this book randomly came to me. I listen it, and overall I think it could help most of the people that listen it. If you're going to listen this book, listen it as someone with a willingness to learn. The best part of this book is how it breaks down why we get angry. It offers a very simple, logical, and scientific view. I was able to connect to this viewpoint. And I think many others will be able to also. Men tend to be factual, rather than emotional creatures. If you're struggling with anger, let this book help you. It's a pretty short read, it helps you understand anger, and helps you become less angry and live a higher quality of life. I give this book five stars because it does what it says it will. Remember this is just a workbook, not an extensive end all/be all encyclopedia of anger. And that's why it is effective. It's short enough to hold your attention, but knowledgeable enough to help change your life.

Worth Every Penny

This is a book that really makes you think about yourself and the way that your mind portrays certain situations. It helps to understand the origins of anger in your head and helps to find ways to alleviate the actions that go along with anger.

The activities in the workbook are a great way to see situations that you were involved in from a different perspective. In doing the activities you can have a further understanding of how to approach similar situations better in the future.

Even if anger is not an issue for you, this is still a good activity book to be sure that you manager your overall emotions and feelings in a manner that is helpful to yourself and others.

There should be an option for more stars.

There should be an option for more stars.
This was written in a manner and in details that hit me directly. With every section I grew a better understanding of myself and my relationship with anger. I wouldn't guarantee that it will help everyone, but it has helped me, and given me the tools to continue to help myself.
Thank you J. D. Bolouri, I understand myself more now, and with practice will continue to be able to make things better!

Absolutely essential book

Absolutely essential book to understanding anger. The book is accurate in J. D. Bolouri 's view of anger, how most people cope, and makes you think about the past in the present, doing a good soul search within yourself, and use techniques to manage your anger, and not manage others for your own self health.

Very good book

Very good book. For those of us who need a book like this, I think it can help a lot. BUT you have to put in the work on yourself, meditation, and constant vigilance and effort to make a change if you have long-term anger issues.
That said, this is very well written and may indeed help.
I did notice a few times I began to ask myself "What good is it to get angry about these things? after listening it...

I love this book

I love this book. The concept is simple, but realistic. I am a Licensed Mental Health counselor and I am using it with my clients, and I have to say, I think it is one of the best anger management books I have found. Each chapter has exercises to help the listener reflect on situations. Anger may not go away completely, but you will be able to be more mindful when you are angry and react in a manner that is more proactive rather than reactive. J. D. Bolouri thanks for offering this book free.
