Summary
From the moment Judi Dench appeared as a teenager in the York Mystery Plays it was clear that acting would be her career. Trained at London's Central School of Speech and Drama it was her performance in her 20s as Juliet in Franco Zeffirelli's memorable Old Vic production that turned her into a star. In the theatre since, she has played every classic role from Titania (three times, most recently in 2010) to Cleopatra.
She first became a household name via television, thanks initially to a sit-com, A Fine Romance, in which she played alongside the actor Michael Williams, whom she married in 1971.
She has since made eight series of another sit-com, As Time Goes By (with Geoffrey Palmer), as well as plays and classic serials, Middlemarch and Cranford.
In the cinema, her films have ranged from Ladies In Lavender, opposite Maggie Smith, through Notes on a Scandal with Cate Blanchett to Shakespeare in Love, in which she played Queen Elizabeth, a role that gained her a Hollywood Oscar. But it is her role as 'M' in six James Bond films, beginning with Goldeneye in 1995, that has gained her worldwide recognition. This book is, however, much more than a career record.

A Good Listen
If you could sum up And Furthermore in three words, what would they be?
Interesting, enthralling, delightful
What was one of the most memorable moments of And Furthermore?
All of it!
What about Samantha Bond’s performance did you like?
As they are of a similar ilk you could almost hear Judi speaking herself. Expertly executed!
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Not out loud but I chuckled and smiled. A little saddened but not tearful.

A true Dame!
I love Judi Dench. I have loved listening to this book. Despite it not being read by Judi herself, I could hear her voice in every word. Samantha Bond has done a phenomenal job & I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that wants a gentle but interesting & entertaining listen.

Wonderful
Please put this on your list !
Dame Judy is of course a national treasure.
This book shows why,I loved all the insights to the different plays/ films and productions it made me realise just how much, and for so many years she has been at the top of her profession.
Lastly Samantha Bond was excellent reading, and began to believe it was the lady herself !

Enjoyable book
I really looked forward to this book. I love Samantha Bond reading anything and it just flowed. At times it was like a list of who, what and when, but I do love Dame Judy and hadn't realised just how much she has actually achieved in her life. I will listen to it again and often because I like to hear books read to me while in the kitchen. I would recommend this book if you are interested in theatre or Dame Judy Dench.

Should have read the bumf
I liked this book simply because I love Dame Judy. Unfortunately it wasn’t what I’d expected because before reading it I hadn’t realised it was a kind of postscript to an earlier fuller biography.
It did read like a bit of a list, anecdotes about every part she had played. I was nearly in tears at one point when she explained the exact playing Hamlet had in Daniel Day Lewis when he played the part of Hamlet meeting the ghost of Hamlets Father. It made me realise the power of love and plays.
I was itching for Dame Judy to talk about her role in Philomena that film mirrored my own story but it never came up and I was so disappointed.
I thank God for souls like Judy long May she move us.

A must listen biography
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this biography. Ideal for anyone who has an interest in the theatre and the greats who walk the boards not to mention a big dollop of Dame Judi's dry wit! Pure pleasure.

Excellent
Loved the book..teeny niggle for me was Samantha’s voice as I could only see her ..much as I love her voice I had to work hard to see Judi..although I could hear judi in the words.. maybe an unknown lady would have worked better..but after a while I got past it.
The book is like Judi Denchs CV..I did miss pictures of the actors etc she referred to ..but Google helped.
It was a fascinating insight to her working life..
