A nice read.

This is the first in a new series by Linda Weaver Clarke. I enjoyed her other mysteries (Amelia Moore detective Series) and was happy to discover she has another mystery series.
I love history so I really liked the historical aspect to the mystery and I learned something new.
I enjoy reading romance but I find when a series starts with an established married couple I find it difficult to connect with them as I wasn't privy to what came before. The secondary romantic story arc involving the younger generation held my interest more.
There were a few exciting and tense scenes as the mystery developed and concluded.
Overall, a good read.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reading audio copy.

Inturigue

This story follows a married woman who works for her local newspaper. After a devastating flood, she finds dead fish and begins to investigate. Meanwhile, her husband discovers that someone has been plundering a nearby Anasazi historical site. The plot goes from there into mystery, intrigue and romance.
I found the story moved along at a good pace and the writing seemed well done. The narration and production were also of a good standard.

I believe this is the first book in a series, so if you like this genre, then there is more to come.

Fun, interesting mystery. 4 stars.

I received a free copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Anasazi Intrigue is the first book in The Adventure of John and Julia Evans series. Anasazi Intrigue follows husband and wife duo John and Julia as they get mixed up in a hometown mystery that is bigger than they bargained for.

I listened to the audiobook of Anasazi Intrigue and I really enjoyed it. It was about 7 hours long and and I listened to it at 1.25 speed and was able to listen to the full audiobook in a day. This was a fun mystery that had alot of equal parts heart and danger. I loved the setting and thought that the author did an amazing job describing it and I loved that it incorporated information on the Anasazi Indians which I had not previously known about and was really interesting that I honestly wish there had been more detail but I think what we got was well balanced in the story.

I enjoyed the narrator, I thought she did a great job at the various voices she uses throughout the book.

The two main characters John and Julia were definitely the prize for me in this book. I loved seeing a healthy, strong marriage between these characters. You really feel how in love they are. I loved their playful banter, their admiration of each other and I also loved that through all that they still weren’t passed off as perfect, they had their downs in this book as well. I appreciated that as that made them feel real to me.

If you are looking for a light mystery read that features a fun, wholesome relationship and family, some danger, some history and some small town vibes, check this book out. It was really fun and this author always tells a great mystery. 4 stars!

Adventurous

Another well written story featuring historical facts, culture, and descriptive detail by this author. She always finds a way to incorporate neat facts about the towns or cultures in her stories. I thought John and Julia were a cute and comical couple and had admirable qualities. The plot is somewhat suspenseful as John and Julia find themselves in dangerous situations as a result of their investigations. It was interesting to see how the author brings all the pieces together in this adventurous tale.

I thought the narrator gave a great performance, as usual. I think this narrator is perfect for this author's writing style and they are a well matched duo.

I received a review copy at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Great Cozy Mystery

This cozy mystery was captivating and full of charm. I particularly enjoyed the setting because it was a familiar place to me. I enjoyed learning more about the Anasazi people and their history. Linda Weaver Clarke is particularly talented at developing her characters. They stay true to form throughout the book and you really feel like you know them. Her descriptions of the locations were also well done. There was just enough suspense to keep you listening and anxious to find out what happens next. The narrator did a nice job as well with all the different voices. The book left me anxious to read the next one.

Longer Cozy Mystery

This book reminds me of a cozy mystery wrapped into a much longer mystery novel. There is a lot of sweetness and the descriptions are a bit excessive at times. I am not typically a fan of the cozy mystery myself and I did feel that the beginning of the book was a bit disjointed with jumps in the timeline. However, if you are a cozy mystery fan that never feels they are long enough for you, this is certainly a book for you.

That being said there is a very intriguing mystery that takes a lot of twists and turns to keep the reader interested and engaged in the lives of the Evans.

I was provided with a free copy of this audio book for my honest review. The views expressed here are entirely my own.

What a fun adventure!

I love Linda Weaver Clarke's stories, each one catches me up in an adventure of fun, romance and suspense! This one had so much going on, and I loved every minute of it. Julia is a reporter, and she is trying to prove herself. When she stumbles across some fish that have died of cyanide poisoning after a horrible flood, she thinks she may have found her story. What she uncovers is much bigger than expected, and her adventure is fast paced, exciting and dangerous! This book is so much fun, it's underlying historical value as well as the story makes it such an interesting listen. But what I truly love is John with Julia. He is so supportive and loving, and goes on this trek with her to keep her dream alive and them both safe! With car chases, a little romance and the uncovering of artifacts, it has something for everyone!

Carolyn Kashner gives a very good performance of this story. She has such an array of voices to share in the book, and each one is specific to the character. She brings out the personalities in each, let's us feel the suspense and helps us through the danger with her inflections and emotional pull. It was wonderful.

Adventure, Death Threats, Stealing & Flooding

This book jumps right into a scene with plenty of action. Flooding, with a couple of houses being swept away, other houses being filled with mud.
This book takes you into the exciting and dangerous life of a new reporter, whose willing to do almost anything to get her big break. Even if it means she's getting death threats, being spied on. Also trying to find out if a bunch of dead cats have been poisoned by cyanide!
Julia & her husband, will do anything to get these bunch of bad guys, before they get away with stolen goods. Julia even uses her canteen as a weapon! She even has some clever distractions, to make the bad guys, think they"re surrounded. I liked the Action, Adventure and of course the intrigue.

Good start to a new series!

This book immediately opens to a flood that had ravished the town - this is one thing I liked about this book was that unlike a lot of other books this book immediately opens with action!

This book has it all:
Flood
Dead animals that were poisoned
Julie is inquizitive, fearless and independent
Playful romance, mystery, suspense and adventure
Humor – John is a real fun loving guy
Threats
Stolen artifacts

Intriguing mystery!

Julia, a news reporter, resides in Utah. After covering devastating flooding, she finds numerous dead fish which seemed suspicious. It turns out they died from cyanide! Julia and her husband investigate the mystery! A lovely story with strong characters. Nicely read by the narrator. As with all of Linda Weaver Clarke's books, there are also some interesting historical facts. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
