Summary

The 2014 Christianity Today Book Award of Merit Winner (Spirituality)" I am a recovering speed addict." Beginning with this confession, pastor and spiritual director Alan Fadling goes on to describe his journey out of the fast lane and into the rhythms of Jesus. Following the framework of Jesus' earthly life, Fadling shows how the work of "unhurrying" ourselves is central to our spiritual development in such pivotal areas as resisting temptation, caring for others, praying and making disciples. Here is a book that affirms that we are called to work and to do work. Productivity is not a sin - it is the attitudes behind our work that can be our undoing. So how do we find balance between our sense of calling and the call to rest? An Unhurried Life offers a way.

A self-examination of our rhythm in Christ

A must read for examining my rhythm in Christ. As leaders we must pause and realize the need to refuel the calling by the greatest teacher of all. It is His will, not our will to be done.

Spoke the Life of Christ to Me

This was one of the most powerful books I’ve read. From start to finish it packed a punch and redirects us to follow Jesus in His way instead of ours. So many things I’ve been reflecting on and struggling with he addressed in here with great clarity.
Praise God for a book like this

Thoughtful and practical

This is a fantastic book. I keep a running list of books that are transformative in my life and this one is now on that list. If you aim to learn “slow living” and what unhurried love looks like then this is a must read. It’s practical and well thought out. An easy listen with thoughtful questions at the end of each chapter. By the end of the book I have a better grasp on what unhurry means and experienced a mini heart-vacation with Jesus. I’m looking forward to continuing my journey in what seems to be the next step in maturing by fostering unhurried intimacy with our Lord, engaging people, enjoying true rest means. This is relevant and imperative material for our day.

Fantastic!

Great book. Being a christian does not mean you have to work a lot and be ok with low quality. Slowing down and giving your all attention is much needed.

Time to slow down

The author tells a tale of slowing not to get more done but to be in eternity now. He shares scripture, stories, and insights from a busy life experience slowing on purpose.

An Unhurried Life is very helpful. I'm glad I took the time to listen.

I will listen again & again!

Oh. THIS TEACHING...how it blessed my soul. I usually prefer reading books so I can highlight, tab and make notes, but listening as I learned to slowly stroll on my dog walks was rejuvenating and life giving. This teaching will be one I come back to often, as implementing the truths help me to die more to self every day.
