Summary

She never expected to marry...

Annabel was about to take the veil to become a nun, when her mother suddenly arrived at the abbey to take her home... so that she can marry the Scottish laird who is betrothed to her runaway sister! She knows nothing about being a wife, nothing about how to run a household, and definitely nothing about the marriage bed.

He never expected to fall in love...

From the moment Ross MacKay sets eyes on Annabel, he is taken with his shy, sweet bride... and the fact that she's blessed with lush curves only makes him utter his own prayers of thanks. But when an enemy endangers her life, he'll move the Highlands themselves to save her. For though Annabel's not the bride he planned for, she's the only woman he desires...

Excellent Romp

If you’re looking for some fluffy, steamy, historical-ish (sorry, there are lots of modern idioms amidst the historical background - best to treat it as a fantasy) rom-com then you’ve come to the right place. What actually lifts the story above everything else that I’ve read in this genre is the performance of the narrator. The comical timing and verbal delivery of Mary Jane Wells is priceless. The best I’ve heard. I hope that other authors consider Ms Wells as a narrator for their own projects because I want to hear more of her work.

Sweet and funny

I've really started to enjoy Mary Jane Wells as narrator. The story was sweet and funny and at times had me laughing out aloud. However, some lapses of contemporary idioms did jar slightly at what was otherwise an enjoyable listen

Don't let the cover put you off!!!!

It's akin to Philippa Gregory's work only with more sex:) A entertaining, funny and raunchy read!

Very enjoyable in the end

I really wasn't sure about the narration, to begin with, but the story was quite quirky, so the narration actually fitted in the end. I haven't listened to too many HR stories set in Scotland, so it was refreshing to have new locations and language to get used to. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series

Very sweet story

Enjoyed the story very much. I liked the narrator too very much. There a very few female narrators I like and Mary Jane Wells is one of them now.

Worth a one time read

Great start, but come the middle I was board!
The final straw was when the lovely Annabel who’s highlander love was laying in the bed, with no one knowing if he was going to wake( read the book) decided, instead of staying by her one true loves beside and wait for him to hopefully wake , no she decided to go get a pastry and leave the highland hunk to it ... that was too far... ending obvious, yawn fest in the middle, but the start was perfect ,loved the way the lady read the book though she did a good job, could of been a super star classic, but flopped, still worth a listen though
