Summary

Wooing a life mate can be hard enough for a wolf, wooing one while under the threat of a curse even more so.

Wooing a mate while pretending to be her dog? Nearly impossible.

After being drugged and captured by Animal Control, Max Adams is on Hoboken's doggie death row when his life mate adopts him, takes him home, and promptly names him Fluffy. While JC, in all her new-pet-owner-ness, feeds "Fluffy" vile kibble, dresses him in mortifying dog couture, and schedules to have his manhood removed, Max's human side gets to know JC. Especially in the biblical sense.

Hopefully well enough to make her fall madly in love, mate with him under the full moon, and move with him to Cedar Glen to live happily ever after forever and ever amen. And fast.

Because the curse comes with a deadline... and the clock is ticking.

What a fun book

I found this by accident and umm'd and ahh’d about getting it. I'm so glad I did. It made me laugh out loud and gave that feel good factor. I loved the switch of viewpoint, especially when it was to Fluffy.

Great narration too, that's always a bonus.

Really enjoyable

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it's a funny, lighthearted story definately worth using a credit for. Great characters and a good twist on the usual werewolf story

What other book might you compare An American Werewolf in Hoboken to, and why?

It's reminds me a lot of books by Robyn peterman, similar style of story telling and humour

Have you listened to any of Hollie Jackson’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Not listened to any others by Hollie Jackson but she is really good, I would definately listen to books narrated by her again

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh, quite a few times must have been getting some strange looks from people in other cars

Any additional comments?

Great book, thoroughly recommend

Awesome Story ~ Loved Fluffy....Umm, I Mean Max!

Recovering from back surgery, I have been listening to so many stories this past week trying to stay sane! I've started many books but actually only finished a few because they are not holding my attention. However, this story was a solid home run with me. It was cute and so funny, it had me laughing out loud... which hurt but I didn't mind.

Poor Max, his life mate journey was much harder than he anticipated when he heads to Hoboken to find his destined mate. He gets caught by animal control and is put on "death row", but his life mate, JC, adopts him just in time. Since shifting in front of everyone is not an option, he pretends to be her adopted dog that she takes home, baths and names Fluffy. However, the next day when she gets home from work, she finds Fluffy has ran away and a hot new guy has moved in the next door apartment, and the sparks fly between them. But by the end of the night when JC is hurt and crying because she cannot find "Fluffy", he can't take the tears so continues to be her pet, and her new boyfriend at the same time. This turns out to be a lot of work for Max and he can barly keep up but it is funny as heck to listen too!

I enjoyed both the story and narration and will continue the series. I've also "wish list" other stories by Dakota.

So worth the time I spent listening to this one but I will admit I bought this story on sell (whispersync.)

Why Just Why?

I'll be honest, I'm a guy that listens to Paranormal Romance, I do this for the wit, the humor, the lack of seriousness, the brevity of the stories, and because I'm a bit of an emotional masochist. Add this with the fact I have three hours in a car, and an eleven hour work shift you can likely see the appeal of the genre.

So why the bad review? First let me say the narrator did a fantastic job, they were spot on and the whole blame goes towards the author.

So by the numbers what is wrong.

1. I really wish the author would have gone and gotten laid before they wrote this book. I have actually read porn/erotica with less sexual description of characters, drooling and sex than is in this book.
2. Really this book just represents everything wrong with the genre. The male is shallow, the woman needs to get laid and ignores all issues in the pursuit of hot guy.
3.The woman goes on rants and side things during the middle of pressing time constraints or for no apparent reason.
4. The guy is more than happy to be the punching bag and completely devoted slave to the women.
5. Add some really bad dialogue "I want to know you after I make love to you" yes that's a quote from their first meeting, no one talks like that that isn't a stalker; and that's just an example. There were times where the dialogue was so bad I had to pull over and laugh at how ridiculous and idiotic it sounded. Yes, I get these books are about female romantic fantasies, but this one really went over the cuckoo's nest.
6. Lastly what really upset me most was that there was a decent story here, a story I wanted to listen to but instead I got PORN and cheesy porn worthy dialogue with a hefty dose of Deus ex machine.

In the end this book is probably my last jaunt into this genre for a long time. If you want good stories and writing, Check out Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Kristen Painter, and Molly Harper (though she has lot more abusive female characters), they actually have good romances, solid plots and so on. Save your money and go look for better books unless you want thinly disguised porn.

LOVED IT!!

OMG...I have wanted to listen to something that author Dakota Cassidy has written for sometime now. I'm truly happy that I was finally able to. Dakota did a fantastic job with this story. I thought it to be brilliantly written. This story has so much detail in it and I LOVED the humor she added. The characters were loveable and I couldn't find even one that I disliked. This story is perfect and everything flowed smoothly.

Hollie Jackson has outdone herself once more and I enjoyed her take on this story. She made the story her own as she narrated this story. Hollie kept me immersed and leaving me breathless throughout the story. I love this genre and between the author and narrator they did a brilliant job bringing life into it. I must say that this has became another favorite story that Hollie narrates. I'm ready to start the second book, its downloaded and awaiting me. I can't wait to start listening to What's New Pussycat. If you love this genre then you have to get this series, Wolf Mates.

Loved it!!!!

I've been avoiding this book in my library. If you're like me and like paranormal stories, then you should definitely give it a shot. You won't be disappointed. Dakota Cassidy has written a wonder story with well rounded and believable characters. So believable I'm wondering if my favorite cat might be waiting for the perfect moment to "shift", wouldn't that be so wonderful. I've already downloaded the next in the series. Thank you Dakota!

A little to explicit for me

I really loved the story, the premise, the narration. I just wish it was more PG. I like for the intimacy to be what I imagine, not what the author tells me to imagine. Other than that a great start to a series I will unfortunately not continue because of the explicitness.

Funny!!

I've listened to this one many times. It's still funny!!! Love the sarcasm. Werewolf falls in love with human girl, girl thinks he's crazy. And the next 2 stories are just as good!!!
Narrator is very good, sex scenes are a bit explicit, story ends with a lead-in to the next in series. A very good easy listen for a rainy day. :-)

Loved it!

This is exactly what I was looking for! Laugh out loud humor, wrapped in sexy romance, and tied up with a great big alpha werewolf bow! Hollie Jackson did a great job with the voices, and really brought the characters to life! Max and JCs story is the best!

Highly entertaining

Where does An American Werewolf in Hoboken rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I loved this book. It was very entertaining and funny.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Max has to have the biggest hart ever in a man. I loved their repartee'.

Have you listened to any of Hollie Jackson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Hollie Jackson did a wonderful narration of this book, her timing was perfect.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

But first we need to think of a name for you. How do you feel about "Pain in the Ass''?

Any additional comments?

I could listen to this book over and over again. I laughed a lot listening to it. It's also very hart warming.
