Free I can see why.

I'm glad I did not pay for this book, really not worth listening too. It was rediculous. With no humour.

Sadly not as good as broadway

Much better seeing it with Jim Parsons. This just didn’t work as an audio book

when a human mind is God

Don't preach said the preacher for your words are untrue if not from the heart. No heart in this yet listened cringing to the end to be sure. A perspective warped by humanity. A listen that I did not need to waste my precious time on. This book is a rant of judgemental human perspective on what God is as if he is God. Thank God he aint.

Philosophically funny

Loved it , a funny satirical, sometimes uncomfortably close to the truth comedy story. Especially loved the mention of Donald Trump, a question most sensible people ask themselves a lot, usually every time we hear him speak.

Hard work

If I'd had to pay for this I'd have been refunding within the first 10 minutes. If it had been any longer I wouldn't have made it to the end.
I have no idea whether David Javerbaum is capable of better but after suffering through this I'm unlikely ever to find out.
I'm not a religious person and base my review solely on the material and delivery.

Great fun

Marvelously intelligent irreverent look at our ideas of a God figure and what it means.

Ok funny for a while

this book was a standup routine tajen to ridiculous extremes. Ok in parts, very USA, a small diversion.

Mildly entertaining

Not as funny as I thought it would be. Definitely not one for religiously serious folks. Some entertaining and thought provoking bits though.

loved it!!!

I loved the story, the narrator couldn't have been more perfect for this story!! I am only sorry it's over already. It made me laugh and the story shared most of my thoughts. Highly recommended.

Not funny at all.

I actually thought it would be sarcastic and poking fun at the Bible but I can take a joke but it really was sad, bitter and very mean. Then they HAD to throw in Trump, jeez total liberal garbage.

A Blasphemous Title

The product description on Audible implies that biblical truth is contained in this title. The audiobook is in fact primarily false doctrine which conflicts with the Bible. While I acknowledge that the author/narrator indicates that the Bible is true, the human author then writes a series of false "commandments". In reality: God does want to have a relationship with humans, He does answer prayers and He does want people to believe in Him. I recommend that people who value the Bible and read it regularly stay away from this blasphemous title.

Starts out strong

Thought it was going to be a good laugh. After a while, the narrator is screaming and not so funny anymore. Had promise. Disappointing. Maybe I didn’t check reviews very well.

Sean Hays is superb

Irreverent and poignant, I think it's a must hear! this is a 'don't take things too seriously' and think about what and why you do things story. if you take religion seriously this may not be for you.

Entertaining with a side of depressing

Loved it! The narration was excellent and the story line great. So many mixed emotions as I listened.

Hilarious and irreverent in the most reverent way

I loved this so much. Even as a person of faith nothing in this was offensive but quite humorous. Good way to not take your religion so seriously 😊

A Bit of a Chuckle Maybe?

This book is positioned as lighter fare, and I suppose it fulfills that role well enough. We have Sean Hayes as the voice of God in a pseudo talk show with his angels as they try to answer people's questions while skimming through the story of all life as told by the Bible and God's 10 commandments.

I figured the title would fall under the category of irreverent humor and naturally, God having the sensibilities of an insult comic while also fully prepared to be self-deprecating follows that logic well enough. But it's not overwhelmingly funny save for a few good zingers here and there. And you kind of expect these things to have a sort of a point that it wants to make and it tries to do this at the very end of the book, but by then it feels a little off.

Even an atheist like me enjoyed this!!

I got this because Sean Hayes, who did a fantastic job, was the narrator but ended up loving it because of the content. I listened to this while doing yard work and must have looked looney since I was alone and laughing my head off. It made me laugh and think and enjoy 2 hours that was worth every minute.
