The book is surprisingly more gruesome than the movie and the narrator sounds almost suspiciously like Christian Bale. I love it.

Amazing narrator

Ellis writes a very witty tale that perfectly captures the ignorant, hedonistic life of upper middle class New Yorkers in the 1980s. The excesses are perfectly captured in the litany of designers and fine goods that runs throughout with glimpses into the horror of Patricks actions and the blindness of the other characters to his disturbance. A blend of mundane obsession with name brands and strange foods blended with horrific and disturbing gore coupled with Patricks black wit is what makes it such a gripping read. Landrum's performance is a perfect embodiment of Patrick Batemans twisted, self gratifying inner monologue.

Gripping satirical tale of 1980s New York hedonism

What a masterpiece of drama, comedy, horror and modernity. Some pages are still barbaric sadism but don’t let’s that steal the show.

4th read since 1995. It gets better every time

Disgusting book, seriously feel like I need a shower after reading this. Interesting social commentary, however.
