Story
After her release from a concentration camp, Corrie ten Boom set out to become what she called a “tramp for the Lord,” traveling around the world at the direction of God and proclaiming his message everywhere. Throughout her life-long experiences, she learned a few lessons in God’s great classroom, which she here shares with listeners. Corrie introduces us to her former prison guard, who asks her for forgiveness; a war-crippled lawyer with a soul as twisted and deformed as his limbs; and more.

Story
Cornelia Arnolda Johanna "Corrie" ten Boom (April 15, 1892 - April 15, 1983) was a Dutch watchmaker who worked with her father Casper and other family members to help, reportedly, 800 Jews escape the Nazi Holocaust during World War II by hiding them in their home. Eventually, the family was caught; ten Boom was arrested, sent to Ravensbruck concentration camp, and released after 10 months due to a clerical error. Later in life, ten Boom wrote The Hiding Place, a biography that recounts the story of her family's efforts and how she was able to find hope while imprisoned.

One woman's struggle against the darkness of Hong Kong's drug dens. Until it was pulled down, the Walled City was Hong Kong's most foreboding territory. It was a lawless place, dominated by the Triads, and which the police hesitated to enter. Strangers were unwelcome. Drug smuggling and heroin addiction flourished, as did prostitution and pornography, extortion and fear. When Jackie Pullinger set sail from England in 1966 she had no idea that God was calling her to the Walled City.

You cannot have Christ if you will not serve Him. If you take Christ, you must take Him in all His qualities. You must not simply take Him as a Friend, but you must also take Him as your Master. If you are to become His disciple, you must also become His servant. God-forbid that anyone fights against that truth. It is certainly one of our greatest delights on earth to serve our Lord, and this is to be our joyful vocation even in heaven itself: His servants shall serve Him: and they shall see His face (Revelation 22:3-4).

Eric Liddell was as close to a saint as any man in modern history has been. Renowned for his athletic prowess, it was also his deeply entrenched values that set him apart from the crowd. These qualities were never better illustrated than in the 1924 Paris Olympics when, having declined his place in the 100 metres owing to the fact that the race was run on a Sunday, he produced an astonishing performance to win gold in the 400 metres and captured the hearts of the world.

Christians love to talk about how God is in control, but that’s harder to grasp when things aren’t going like you thought it would, when your life looks quite different than you imagined. In the back of my mind, God reminds me that he is the same trustworthy God - the one who always finishes the stories he starts. And this is my story - of wrestling with our God who gives a limp and a blessing. A God who is always kind even when my circumstances feel the opposite.

As Adolf Hitler and the Nazis seduced a nation, bullied a continent, and attempted to exterminate the Jews of Europe, a small number of dissidents and saboteurs worked to dismantle the Third Reich from the inside. One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer. In the first major biography of Bonhoeffer in 40 years, New York Times best-selling author Eric Metaxas takes both strands of Bonhoeffer's life - the theologian and the spy - to tell a searing story of incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil.

Stories of Corrie's Evangelical Journey
I selected this book thinking I would learn about Corrie ten Boom's time in a Nazi concentration camp and forgiveness. It was more about the years after the camp when she started traveling to spread the gospel. This book was her second book, written in 1953 when she was in her late 50s. "The Hiding Place" was written 18 years after that. Amazing woman, but not what I was looking for.
As always, Nadia May is wonderful. I must admit she was part of the reason why I decided to give this book, which is a very different read for me a try.

Any additional comments?
Just finished listening to the book Amazing Love by Corrie ten Boom. After her release from the Concentration camp, Corrie traveled around the world, proclaiming the Gospel. This book talks of 27 encounters she had after the war. Her faith in God puts us to shame. Although I do not agree with all the book (not KJV) it did have a lot of meat. Some of the topics was forgiveness, spiritual pride, the love of God; faith in God; etc. It was very encouraging and worth the listen (2hours & 31 min.) .

Chocolate for the soul
Corrie ten Boom, for those who don't know, is a Holocaust survivor and a highly respected Christian speaker. This book details various occasions in her ministry when someone offered or needed forgiveness and found peace.
Nadia May did a beautiful job of the narration. She has a Dutch accent to match Corrie's and I found her tone to be very calming.
Corrie ten Boom writes in such an humble manner with such simplicity that this book would be easy to understand for a beginning Christian. It was a great source of encouragement for me and a reminder that I should always seek to surrender more of myself to God. It would not be reaching to say that I will remember some of these stories for the rest of my life.
My favorite part of the book was when she compared the Bible to chocolate. You'll have to read it to really understand the comparison, and you won't regret that you did.
