Summary

Miss Juliet Marshville is spitting mad. With one guardian missing, and the other singularly uninterested in her fate, she is at the mercy of her wastrel brother who loses her beloved childhood home to a man known as Sin. Determined to reclaim control of Rosecliff Cottage and her own fate, Juliet arranges a meeting with the notorious rogue and demands the return of her property.

Jonathan Tidemore, 5th Earl of Sinclair, known to the ton as Sin, is exceptionally lucky in life and at the gaming tables. He has just one problem. Well...four, really. His incorrigible sisters have driven off yet another governess. This time, however, his mother demands he find an appropriate replacement.

When Miss Juliet Marshville boldly demands the return of her precious cottage, he takes advantage of his sudden good fortune and puts an offer to her; turn his sisters into proper English ladies, and he'll return Rosecliff Cottage to Juliet's possession.

Jonathan comes to appreciate Juliet's spirit, courage, and clever wit, and decides to claim the fiery beauty as his mistress. Juliet, however, will be mistress for no man. Nor could she ever love a man who callously stole her home in a game of cards. As Jonathan begins to see Juliet as more than a spirited beauty to warm his bed, he realizes she could be a lady he could love the rest of his life, if only he can convince the proud Juliet that he's worthy of her hand and heart.

Adorable, hilarious family, & beautiful love story

This Book 4 was probably my favorite. The sisters of the “big brother” were hilarious & Christi Caldwell has a sense of humor that as writers we all want to have. The love story is precious...meaningful and only wish we all had...

If anyone reads my reviews you know my love for Narrator Tim Campbell...love, love, love! Please READ & don’t put it down until you’re in love too....

5 shiny stars.

I enjoyed this tale. Even though it is simple and predictable. And yes, Tim Campbell makes everything he reads fabulous so that is a huge bonus! But it was a sweet experience that had enough chemistry to make it sexy and the HEA that leaves a smile.

Lovely story

Well-written. I loved the characters. Good character development and nice, if predictable, story line. I enjoyed listening to this story and I like this narrator as well; he does a nice job with all the voices. I will listen to more from this author.

Gives Romance novels a bad name

The story is weak and the characters are weak. The premiums could have been entertaining but the author took this book in a very trite and simplistic direction.

Eh

This was a well narrated book by Tim Campbell. But the steam just wasn’t there. It was a good listen however I guess I like a whole lot more steam.

TSTL

There was a lot about this installment to irritate. For starters, there were so many phrases and whole sentences repeated from previous books that it was excruciatingly annoying.

The TSTL moments were everywhere. Equal opportunity-both Juliet and Sin made such moronic choices that as a reader, one can only, as Ms. Caldwell likes to REPEATEDLY say “point one’s eyes to the sky”.

My primary disappointment, however, lay with Sin. I really liked him in previous books, but he turned out to be a weak, smarmy sexually harassing asshole. There truly was very little difference between him and the evil Lord William. His little self-hatred inner monologues didn’t redeem him. I don’t care if you hate yourself for being an awful person if you don’t do anything to change your behavior. Every time he attempted to “seduce” Juliet he just came across as a creeper trying to take advantage of a vulnerable woman. It was gross. HE was gross.

Then there were the inconsistencies that pulled me from the story. After very nearly being raped, Juliet escapes into ANOTHER near rape, then has no sort of ptsd or even fear of Sin’s gross advances that come IMMEDIATELY after he “rescues” her from the rapist. I don’t know ANYONE who would be rescued from an assault, only to have said rescuer immediately suggest she have sex with him, who wouldn’t be horrified and traumatized. But, no, Juliet finds him desperately attractive. WTF?!! Talk about tone deaf on the part of the author. These assaults Juliet suffered (multiple times) were very clumsy plot devices that were offensive to anyone who has ever actually been assaulted. One doesn’t just “get over” something like that within minutes.

Other inconsistencies were based on simple common sense issues. Little things like HOW Juliet survives with no money for months. How does she eat? Stay warm? What does she wear? It’s just pure nonsense.

I expected better from this author. This felt dialed in, repetitive and overwrought for the sake of word count.

I Absolutely Loved This Book!

I Absolutely loved this book. I was wondering what happened to Son. Happy you explored his story. I found Juliet to be a brave woman of strong character. She was very likable. I really enjoyed his younger sisters. They were a delight. Please give them a series.

<br />Enjoyable romance, knuckle head hero

I liked the female lead character. I liked the sisters too. The story was about the developing relationship between the H&H and the interaction with the siblings. No mystery or significant action in this story. I thought the hero was a bit of a cad and the heroine was strong. She was not willing to accept his less than honorable offer. The resolution with the couple was wrapped up quickly at the end. I would have liked to see the heroine hold the hero accountable vs caving right away. The epilogue was in the immediate timeline. Disappointed there was no closure showing the "after" with the siblings, mother and other characters response.
