Story
Gregory and his wives fought honorably and hard to advance to the finals, where their last fight was against the Eternal Flame. With their rigorous training and communication, they managed to defeat the arrogant clan, letting them stand alongside their novice friends as champions. The excitement of being the champions wasn’t the happiest part of their year, though. That came after the tournament, when all five of their friends—Nessa, Daciana, Victoria, Clover, and Ling—joined Aether’s Guard.

Odin, Archangel Michael, Lucifer, and Morrigan all vied for his soul, each offering different deals. Sean had to choose, so he chose to go with the goddess of Fate, Death, and Battle.

John Doc Henry had been on the shortest, crappiest end of the stick since the first day of his life; no parents, bad foster parents, and abysmal luck at every turn. The day his life changed started out exactly like he had come to expect. His car died on a rarely traveled road, and he broke his toe shortly after dodging the one other car on the road. When it stopped and backed up to him, the license plate read “LADYLUK”, adding insult to injury.

Story
Alvin woke in a room that was not his, to discover that he had died and his brain had been bargained off cheaply to pay off someone else’s debt. It did not sit well with him. It didn’t surprise him that even in death, people were still using him for their own purposes. He had never exactly been a good guy, but everyone had their breaking point, and he had found his. The bastards in charge had uploaded his mind into a virtual death game. The whole world could now pay to see him play it and probably die. Regardless, he was not about to wait for death to come for him.

Have you ever felt like there was something inside of you pushing your actions? A dormant beast, so to speak. I know it sounds crazy. But, that’s the best way I could describe how I’ve felt for a long time. I thought it was normal, some animal part of the human brain that lingered from evolution. But, this is the story of how I learned I wasn’t exactly human, and there was a world underneath our own where all the things that go bump in the night live. And, that my beast was very real indeed.

Couldn't finish this book...
I enjoyed the first and second book but I had two major issues with the third.
Firstly, why does there need to be so much smut?! We got it in the second book, no need to push it so much in the third. I cringed a little more each time 'kitten's' sex acts were given an overview.
Secondly, I found the story to be largely filler. Different character names but extremely similar story line and content to the second book.
I wasn't able to make it to the end (maybe due in part to me listening to the first two back to back) and I'm sorry to say, I'm going to have to return it for one of the Awaken Online series.
The narrator did a great job however (especially with Bob who seems to be a fan favourite!).

Compelling, but no crescendo.
The story has me wanting to come back, but the ending of all the books has been incredibly lackluster. It has a build but no peak in story, no real plot hook. Still, the story basis and setting is compelling and I at least want to know what happens next.

This one got to me.
Would you consider the audio edition of Alpha Company to be better than the print version?
Not read the print so couldn't tell you.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Alpha Company?
Fluffs dream/memory. Can you say Triggered much?
What does Peter Berkrot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
The feelings conveyed are much clearer to me when it's read out how it;s meant to be.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
OH this one REALLY pissed me off, I love and hate the book! The start and through it is great but again Fluffballs dream/memory. It's been hours and I'm STILL wanting to destroy that S.O.B
Any additional comments?
Great listen! the story is deep and excellently laid out for the most part.

Engaging and intense
The third book in the Alpha World saga is the best to date. Each character is well developed and explored and manages to bring the reader in even closer. The action scenes are impeccable and paced at edge of your seat speeds. The romantic discussions are well thought out and all possibilities are properly explored. This is a brilliant book.

WILL YOU PLEASE COME UP WITH NEW INTERACTIONS
This book keeps repeating the same conversations over and over. I started to pick up on when a conversation that had already taken place would start up again and I would start skipping till the new material showed up.
Some examples:
Bob gets a hug for doing a good job.
I am monogamous but my wife is not.
My dad said that was how it should be done.
I wish you would start a harem.... GRRGH! I GET IT! MOVE THE STORY ALONG!!
I just started getting sick of the rinse and repeat dialog. Ugh. I liked the first book and thought the second was ok. I am really not sure if I want to pay for the next one.

To much sex and psychotherapy
The first book in the series was great, The second started to become less so. By the end of book three. The game has become dull and un interesting. Every character we learn has deep psychological issues. The book becomes little more than back and fort chapters if teenage sexual fantasies and psychological daddy issues for all characters.
Not sure if I have the desire to continue the series.

Getting Even Better!
This next book dives deep into the character's backgrounds and the amount of character development is intense. Struggles that were always there but ignored are now starting to be addressed.
World exploration is starting. Multiple Dungeons are being cleared, women are being wooed, and Visa versa.
The only issue I have is with the single narrator's voice range. With so many characters, many of the voices are being reused and mixed making things jumbled. There is one point during a nightmare where it seems every voice he has is being used at once. I only wish there were a second narrator that could hold some of the weight all the characters hold.
I will avoid from spoiling anything. I hope the next book can "Keep" my interests as well as the this one has.
Warning: Contains a lot of sexual situations, dark themes, racism, and tackles problems such as assault, sexual assault, and murder.
P.s. The last couple chapters were very hard for me to get through as I was triggered by Fluffball's past. I suggest you prepare.

Great idea with disappointing implementation
Being a fan of science fiction and video games I was pretty excited by the premise of this book: there is a ton of cool plot lines to explore within such a story. By the time I got to Book 3 I lost any hope that the author is going to make anything interesting out of the series. The thing that bugged me the most from the plot is the fact that there was not a single attempt made to explain the high functioning "artificial intelligence" controlling non playable characters in the game. I mean, dude, the main protagonist is married to a damn "artificial intelligence", at no point the subject of how this artificial intelligence functions at such a high level, how it should or should not be considered "conscious", any possible "self awareness" plot lines, none, all of this is brushed aside for things like an extremely detailed stat guide presented at the end of each chapter. The story is fun enough in a generic sort of way, but the amount of things simply ignored by the author are maddening. The narrators voice also sounds like he is about to tell someone "it puts the lotion on its skin", I have no idea if the narrator does this on purpose, but damn, what a weird way to talk.

It is up to the common man to elevate himself!
Alburet got his guild; Alpha Company. He also managed to get some boons granted from the king that was helpful to summoners and necromancers alike. When Alburet and Stacia married, her parents gave them a house with an attached building for a wedding present. The attached building is perfect for their guildhall for now. Another immersion break took place, so Alburet had to leave Alpha World once again. Happily, he was back on time. The immersion break, which was a promotional event, garnered a large number of players interested in joining the guild. The next few days would be spent reviewing and helping the recruits. Alpha Company is growing! The items that Alburet found in the Forgotten Prison drew much interest from the nobles of Alpha World. They all wanted to know where it was for lost history and/or relics. The game mechanics are spot-on, the author is certainly a gamer. The story is enthralling, the dungeon diving exciting, the relationship between Alburet and Stacia heart-warming, and the remaining cast of characters cementing all together. I look forward to continuing the series.
