Summary

A successful anaesthetist, Anna is focused on herself, her career, and her girlfriend. Everything changes abruptly when her brother's and sister-in-law's deaths devastate her and her family. Left responsible for her young niece and nephew, Anna finds herself dumped and alone in Melbourne, a city she doesn't even like. She tries to navigate the shock of looking after two children battling with their grief while managing her own.

Filled with self-doubt, Anna feels as if she's making a mess of the entire thing, especially when she collides with a long-legged stranger. Anna barely has time to brush her teeth in the morning, let alone to date a woman - least of all one who has no idea about the two kids under her care.

Just when Anna finally starts to feel as if she's getting some control of the situation, the biggest fight begins and Anna really has to step up once and for all.

Contains mature themes.

Beautiful heartwarming story

I wasn’t sure if I would like this book or not due to the content . However , from chapter 1 I was absolutely hooked. The narration is superb & gently soothing. The story with its twists and turns is absorbing & makes the reader/ listener feel lots of emotions along the journey . It’s a really good 5 star listen. Cannot recommend highly enough.
You feel like you really know the characters of each of them & sympathise with their emotions. Don’t hesitate, just listen . I’m sad I have finished it . But maybe look forward to a sequel …..

Perfect title

This book is full of ‘little moments’ of tears, laughter, rage, indignation, empathy … and ultimately underlying love for friends, family and partner. A lovely story, I highly recommend.

Beautiful story

It took me some time to get used to a bit too slow and sometimes flat reading but overall this is very nicely written story. Warm and sweet. I will definitely add new author to my favorite list

Wonderful book, difficult reader... :(

This is a review of the audiobook version of this book, not the actual book. I LOVE the text version of this book, I've read it and it's one of my favourite books from one of my top 3 writers of this genre; I think G Benson is underrated and I adore all of her books, she a genius IMHO.... So, I was excited to see that All The Little Moments had made it onto audible... Yey!.....
No! I'm very sorry, but I found the reader dreadful... I could hear it in the sample, but took a chance she would get better... But, no.
Oddly, any dialogue, she acts well, and is good, but the normal non spoken words (and that's most of the text!) are read with a weird undulating voice, placing the emphasis on the wrong words in a totally distracting way. I found myself frequently repeating the words she intoned in my head to correct the emphasis... And put some life into it... It's such a huge shame.... because this book is brilliant. It amazes me that such a 'good' publisher like ylva can give the green light to something like this, was the reader's only qualification being Australian? Did anyone actually listen, or am I the only one....? Maybe... I don't normally rant in comments about poor readers, it's just one of the many trials of listening to lesfic on Audible... But, this is a special book to me, and I'm just hurt that it's read so badly. Sad face! :(

Little moments, big feelings

From little moments that have big impacts and life changing effects to little moments that hold you together that make your heart swell three times over.

Those little moments espescially the ones provided by a rather smart six year old uplift the big feelings the road of this story takes you on.
Finishing this one without some tears was rather difficult

Great story about a challenging subject

This book is about a challenging situation that some people would struggle to overcome but G benson handle it well

Probably better to read than to listen to.

It is a good story and touchingly told but the writing is not up to the standard of the author's later work. A particularly positive aspect of the story is that G Benson adheres to her commendable practice of including multiracial key characters in her writing, which is a refreshing change from the standard white on white lesbian romantic fiction.

Frustratingly, the narrator badly detracts from the overall listening experience. She is not very good and is badly directed / produced. It is forgivable that she muddles up the different voices she uses so that it is often unclear which character is speaking since this can often be explained by rushed recording with too few takes and lack of rehearsal time.

What is unforgiveable in this audiobook is the lack of something that should be basic to any spoken word production, the understanding by the narrator of how to read a text in order to convey its meaning to a listener. I am sure I am not alone among listeners who are frustrated by the audiobooks producers who should take more trouble with production valves and not hire narrators who are incapable of conveying written English in a meaningful way. It seems to have become a increasingly common that narrators have no understanding of the reason for a comma (,) in a passage of text and consequently render it meaningless.

In the hope that a narrator / actor / voice artist, director or producer may occasionally read listeners feedback, I would like to remind them that the comma (,) in the text is there for the reader to make sense of the written word and NOT necessarily for the narrator to pause or take a breath. Mostly, when the narrator takes a breath or pauses at this point it breaks up the meaning text making it difficult or impossible for the listener to make sense of it.

Breaking up the sense of the text with unfortunate pauses is what this narrator does too frequently throughout this audiobook but especially in the early chapters. This makes the narrative quite difficult to follow and is a real shame because only those listeners with significant perseverance will get to enjoy what is, fundamentaly, a good story.
