Summary

A childhood marred by tragedy. An uncertain future. One summer that changes everything.

After losing her mother in a tragic accident, Hannah Tatum grows up wanting nothing more than to be a good girl. At 21, she has her whole future planned out. She'll help her dad with their ranch until her childhood sweetheart finishes university. They'll get married, take over the ranch, and live happily ever after. But since when do perfect plans ever work out?

At the beginning of the summer, Hannah's father decides to sell the ranch. He hires Will Ludlow, travelling ranch hand and rodeo star, to help get the property ready. Hannah is determined to stop her dad, keep the ranch, and stay far away from Will and his mysterious past.

But as new memories of her mother surface, Hannah doubts her mother's death was purely accidental. With summer coming to an end and everything falling apart around her, can Hannah hold on to the things that matter the most?

A coming-of-age story about family secrets, first loves, and finding a place in the world, All but What's Left is perfect for fans of Jojo Moyes, Kerry Lonsdale, and Nicholas Sparks - a haunting novel that asks: What do you do when making yourself happy means breaking someone's heart - maybe even your own?

Don't Leave me hanging

Was a great book, I feel a bit let down by die ending I hope there will be a follow up, you can’t just leave me hanging like that. 😆

The narration was great, she did a great job by giving each character their own voice.

More than I expected!

All But What's Left by Carrie Mumford is a great coming of age story with decisions, consequences, and heartache. The author did a great job with the small town imagery and what life was like in the 80's and 90's. The book has the unresolved mystery of Hannah's mother (that is why I hadn't rated the story higher). I ached for the child in the beginning. Amanda Stribling was perfect bringing the characters to life. I could hear all the emotions, and who was speaking. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator. Thank you Audiobook Obsession for directing me to this book, Its a great listen!

Never Learned the Truth!

I have mixed emotions when it comes to this novel. It wasn't a bad novel, just that I don't feel we ever learned the truth about the mother.

Hannah herself spent a lot of time living her life the way she knew others expected of her. A good girl her father expected from her. The good girl her friends knew her to be. The faithful girlfriend her college boyfriend new she would be. She was too afraid to step out and find the young woman she wanted to be.

The narration was performed by Amanda Stribling, which she wonderfully had done. I would still recommend this novel to others to listen to, because there's still a good story there.

angsty listen ***

This story was an angsty listen. I enjoyed Amanda Stribling's narration. It added even more depth to the story. I love HEA's, even when they're formulaic. This story is not that. It's more realistic. But a great story, with rich writing and full characters that break your heart. Hannah and Will just about broke my heart. That being said, it's a definite must listen.

All but What's Left

Amanda Stribling did a great job with the voices for this performance. I did feel like the accents were a bit more american/southern than I would have expected. I was a good ways into the book when I realized it was set in Canada and not Texas or something close.

I enjoy most small town, farm/ranch stories so I was immediately sucked into the book. Add in the mystery of Hannah's moms death, and a possible new love interest and I couldn't press pause. my one disappointment was how the book ended. It wasn't a cliffhanger but it wasn't really and HEA either. there is no definite conclusion for Hannah. You don't know if she goes to school, if she goes and finds Will. I feel like I invested a lot of time and need those answers (lol). This is one of Carrie Mumford's first books and it was amazing. The entire storyline had be waiting for what came next, the characters all had a great dynamic. Looking forward to reading whatever she puts out next.

80s and 90s

I love how this book did not take place in the time of cell phones and GPS. I believe it really added to the quality of the book. The book was really well written, with word choice. Nothing seemed to be repeated or out of place. Narration was excellent! Variation in voices was done well, one time I heard background noise but it was so quick and sudden I hardly noticed.

The story itself was good, but I did feel unsatisfied at the end. So many questions unsolved. It doesn’t say that this book is within a series so I only have my imagination to finish the book which is fine, but I will want to know what happened.

Slow paced, but enjoyable

The narrator, Amanda Stribling, did a wonderful job not only at distinguishing between characters, but also for Hannah in the different stages of her life.

The story itself felt a bit slow paced to me, and I felt like nothing was truly resolved by the end; even still I enjoyed Hannah’s journey.

Emotional ride

I really enjoyed this coming of age book. The only thing I could mark it down for was I felt the ending was really rushed. I felt like we did really get closure. I enjoyed the story up to that point. The author did a great just at showing the growth of the characters and I felt the story could have been really life. The narrator did a great job with this story making it more enjoyable.

3.5 stars

I liked the interaction/chemistry between Hannah and Will but was disappointed that things weren't really resolved at the end. Also I spent the whole book ready to learn whether or not Hannah's father intentionally killed her mother and the reveal was kind of a let down after being built up in the story.
Overall I thought this was an ok story with Ok narration.

Rollercoaster of Emotions.

All but what's left was a roller coaster of emotions, Hannah went through a sad experience in her past that left her feeling insecure in life. Her father didn't know how to give her what she needed and he often made her feel like something was not good. she is determined to save her ranch and her memories but she is not sure she will accomplish this with her stubborn father wanting to get rid of all..

It was a good novel, with a lot of feelings at some point, felt very sad especially for Hannah she was trying to understand her father's motives to sale what she loved the most but couldn't comprehend his reasons. she spends many years waiting for someone who was now a stranger to her. but life brought her someone who will shake her balance and will definitely change the course of her life and heart..

Will, Hannah, and Radek will steal your heart and keep you hooked until the end of this story.

Great characters and story, the narrations were great, Amanda Stribling really brought so much to the story making us feel Hannahs emotions even stronger. love how she made this story deeper with her voice. really love how she narrated the other characters giving them a unique side..

Conflicted

I am a little conflicted about how to rate this book and also about how I felt about the story. It started out really interesting and then it kept jumping back and forth between three different timelines throughout the story. I understand why the author did this in a way however I can’t say I liked it. I really didn’t feel the romance in the story much and to tell the truth got bored with the whole thing and just wanted it to come to a conclusion with still almost 3 hours of the story to go. I persevered and listened to the end however and then I felt unsatisfied because I felt like the story really was unfinished and needed an epilogue. Amanda Stribling did a wonderful job with the narration.

New Author I Am Now A Fan Of

I usually do not listen to this kind of story but the premise caught my attention so I took a chance. I was not disappointed. The performance was decent and I would give the narrator a second listen. Being as this is the author's first story, I truly couldn't tell it was. IMO, it sounded to me like she had years of experience and the story kept me invested and the emotions were right on target. I will not post spoilers but some of the decisions and situations Hannah is dealing with definitely brings up memories of some of the tough calls I had to deal with in life. I am not sorry to have heard this book and will probably do so again when I need a reminder of where I've been and where I am going. #AudiobookObsession

Taking A Chance

Loved the characters and the small town feel of this story. There are some things Hannah thinks and does that is frustrating, but one must remember that she doesn't know any different than the little town. There was a little bit of a mystery written in to the story as well, which I appreciated. I loved seeing Hannah fight for what she wanted and I'm glad she finally realized that something's are worth taking a chance for.

I like this narrator for this story and I feel like she did a great job throughout the performance.

So much angst with an unexpected ending!

This book was so different than what I was expecting, but it was great. It was emotional, and had so many layers. It was less love story, and more girl trying to figure out who she was and who she wanted to be. I thought I knew where we were heading, but I honestly wasn't expecting this ending.

The narration was fantastic. I am a huge fan of Amanda Stribling, and this didn't disappoint. She brings the emotion through in this story perfectly.

Great Read

All But What's Left was a great read by Carrie Mumford. Hannah had a childhood that was very tragic. She lost her mother at a young age in a tragic accident. She was also involved in a car accident when she was in high school. At 21, she has planned to help her dad on their ranch until her high school boyfriend graduates college. Her father tells her that he wants to sell the ranch and hires a new ranch hand, Will. Hannah will do anything to stop the sale of the ranch. Although she's attracted to Will, she wants to stay far away from him. Hannah starts having memories of her mom that make her question if it was truly an accident that caused her death. I really enjoyed listening to Hannah's story and can't wait to read more by Carrie Mumford. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

In the feels!

I think as a woman, during your life you are always searching for yourself. Always on the hunt for who you really are deep down.
This book was just that....the search of finding depth. I adored everything about it and can’t wait for more from this author and the narrator.
Perfect combination of growth, angst, love, betrayal and forgiveness.
