Summary

James’ college coming-out doesn’t go the way he expected. In fact, after working hard and getting into Harvard’s psych program, he still can’t say the words. Scholarships and a high GPA won’t stop his parents from disowning him for being gay, and the miles leave him anxious instead of secure. Left to dream of his safe someday, James resigns himself to staying in the closet a bit longer.

But a lucid dreaming project turns his dream future on its head. Each night, in his dreams, James finds himself in an eerie manor that shifts between disgusting ruins and Gothic glamor, and he’s not alone. Gray - beautiful, cold, and curt - stirs up feelings James would rather not feel about anyone. When his literal dream man haunts him during the day, James assumes he’s losing it.

His fight for sanity becomes a matter of life and death. Gray isn’t the only phantom lurking in the manor, and whether in his head or simply dead, they have no intention of letting James get out alive. 

A modern-day Gothic romance, All That We Say or Seem is a love story caught in the tangles of a psych thriller, sure to have you holding your breath until the very end!

Appalling narrator

Had to stop listening to this audiobook as I found the narrator so annoying. He sounded as if he were some species of large cat purring his way through the story.
