The Rage Are Coming!

Like a satellite in a decaying orbit I felt pulled back to this series despite my misgivings over the first book. I’m obviously more tuned in now because I really, really enjoyed this one. It’s classic space opera with much action and some truly macabre moments. The scene in the drainage tunnel of the Alien ship is particularly gut wrenching – you’ll know the one when you get to it! It’s scenes like that which capture some of the claustrophobic tension of the early Alien films and really raised this book up to a five star billing.

The misgivings that I mentioned reviewing the previous book didn’t completely go away but, and I have to admit this, they really didn’t stop me enjoying this one at all. The narration of the female characters seemed to pick up a little and now that I am more used to the role of the monsters I’m getting into it. The back story works well and the plot is very fast-moving with lots and lots of action.

Of course this is a series so we’re kept waiting for the conclusion until the final part. Don’t let that put you off, there is lots of action in this and the plot does develop at a cracking pace. There are a few new characters who add to the depth of the story and develop additional sub-plots of their own. We are left at the end with everything perfectly poised for a final cataclysmic war to decide humanity's fate.

So, despite my misgivings I think this is a cracker of a sci-fi action book and I shall certainly be completing this series!

Don't waste your money

I've gone through this three times just to ensure I wasn't being unfair. Terribly written, poorly narrated, disjointed, exhaustingly tiresome. I'm an alien fan, don't waste your hard earned money on this one.

gripping!

Great to know the Alien saga is in such capable hands. Tim Lebbon is a wonderful storyteller and takes these stories as seriously as any of his other works. As I say it's "gripping"!

Excellent

A great story. Brilliantly narrated. I've always been fascinated by the Alien story since my encounter with Ridley Scot's terrifying movie as a twelve year old.

Pretty good story well read.

Quite a few names to keep track of, but enjoyable enough to make me continue with the series I think.

More like those old school dark horse novels

Great continuation! It's great when books are willing to kill off characters right when you think they are okay.

The alien/human/predator war continues

The 2nd installment of the rage war continues to develop the various relationships between the allies as well as reveals more of the rage and their methods, and purpose. The story is well written and the tale has a lot of depth. I have a four on the story only because of the fact that if you have read the other alien and predator books that have been printed before you will see a very large difference in the level of action as well as the variance in strength and skill of the various species between this series and the other stories.

Not as good as book one

Becoming a fan of Tim’s work i found this one less enjoyable than the others

Much darker and deeper than the first book if this series. Kept bouncing between places sort of took some of the enjoyment out of it

Hope book 3 is better

Loved the book and looking forward to the conclusion in Book 3. Once you understand the flow of the series it makes the story enjoyable.

I hated Palant by the end of this book

she was fine and relatable in the first book but in this one she can't decide who's side to be on and its KINDA really distracting. ((high key wish she wasn't a main character so I knew she wouldn't turn up in the third book... ))

great trilogy

the story line is really engrossing and well worth the credits. I'm a big fan of the Alien and the Alien vs Predator books and movies.

If I have any criticism, it's the narrator. He does great male voices but his female voices are really ... ugh. Unless the female character is ancient or a predator, they all usually sound whiney or infantile.

It's also easy to tell if the characters are good or evil by how they're voiced, which could be good or bad depending if it's a spoiler or not.

Book two of Predator Alien crossover

I like the second book of audible books. it gets more in-depth into the story of predators and about colonial Marines. Check it out when you get a chance
