The Rage Are Coming!
Like a satellite in a decaying orbit I felt pulled back to this series despite my misgivings over the first book. I’m obviously more tuned in now because I really, really enjoyed this one. It’s classic space opera with much action and some truly macabre moments. The scene in the drainage tunnel of the Alien ship is particularly gut wrenching – you’ll know the one when you get to it! It’s scenes like that which capture some of the claustrophobic tension of the early Alien films and really raised this book up to a five star billing.
The misgivings that I mentioned reviewing the previous book didn’t completely go away but, and I have to admit this, they really didn’t stop me enjoying this one at all. The narration of the female characters seemed to pick up a little and now that I am more used to the role of the monsters I’m getting into it. The back story works well and the plot is very fast-moving with lots and lots of action.
Of course this is a series so we’re kept waiting for the conclusion until the final part. Don’t let that put you off, there is lots of action in this and the plot does develop at a cracking pace. There are a few new characters who add to the depth of the story and develop additional sub-plots of their own. We are left at the end with everything perfectly poised for a final cataclysmic war to decide humanity's fate.
So, despite my misgivings I think this is a cracker of a sci-fi action book and I shall certainly be completing this series!

Excellent
A great story. Brilliantly narrated. I've always been fascinated by the Alien story since my encounter with Ridley Scot's terrifying movie as a twelve year old.

Pretty good story well read.
Quite a few names to keep track of, but enjoyable enough to make me continue with the series I think.

Don't waste your money
I've gone through this three times just to ensure I wasn't being unfair. Terribly written, poorly narrated, disjointed, exhaustingly tiresome. I'm an alien fan, don't waste your hard earned money on this one.

gripping!
Great to know the Alien saga is in such capable hands. Tim Lebbon is a wonderful storyteller and takes these stories as seriously as any of his other works. As I say it's "gripping"!
