Summary

A car lies crashed below a Welsh mountain road. One of the young women inside it is dead, the other badly injured with no memory of who she is or what just happened. All she has is a bus pass showing her photograph and a name she doesn't recognize.

As she struggles to recover from her injuries, a startling revelation shatters everything she thought she knew, forcing her into an uneasy alliance with Detective Bronwen Pryce. With danger closing in from all sides, the two women must work together to uncover the truth - even if it kills them.

Another great book from Cari

'Another great book from Cari.
The plot is fast paced and grabs your attention from the first page.
The characters are believable and real.
As expected from Cari the book is filled with humour and some brilliantly funny observations – the whiteboard and photos and trying to put a USB in a computer had me laughing out loud.
Cari has a unique way of writing, she portrays a story in a no holds barred, no nonsense way.
A thoroughly brilliant enjoyable book.
It would be re-miss of me not to mention the outstanding narration by Nicola Victoria Vincent, it’s almost as if Cari has written this book with Nicola in mind as the narrator'.

Another great plot from Cari Hunter

Another great story from Cari Hunter, I never tire of her books. Also lovely narration as always by Nicola Victoria Vincent, even her welsh accent rang true. Would highly recommend this book, especially if you're into crime novels, it has a good plot and good pacing. Mind Cari does put her characters through the mill!! So expect a little bit of violence, but not too much to detract from the story! I always think of Cari's books as crime novels with a little smidgen of romance thrown in to add to the story and counteract the tension.

Brilliant story wonderfully read

I’ve become a big fan of Cari Hunter’s storytelling and writing style. She’s become my favourite crime writer. I also love Nicola Vincent’s perfect narration, so I was eagerly waiting for this to come out on audible.

It lived up to all my hopes! Another properly good story with a real feel of authenticity and lovely touches in the prose. Refreshing free of cliché or plot contrivances and real humour that had me chuckling along with main character. Can’t wait for the next one!

Gritty, thrilling and brilliant!

Another excellent story from Cari! She brings alive the trials and tribulations of her characters with a mix of humour and attention to the smallest detail. Nicola's authentic accents hook you in and take you on a journey as vivid as watching a film! I was going to listen to this over a number or car journeys but just had to finish it once I'd started.

Her Best Yet - Highly Recommend

The raw power of the first books has been supplanted by clever, more sophisticated verbal gymnastics. I use the word "verbal" because this is a book that is best heard as a performance -- and Ms. Vincent is the perfect match. This is like the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for me, in that I can't really image reading (as opposed to listening). The dialogue cascades at you in a wonderful way. (Note the present tense, a tricky bit of business!) I read hard sci-fi, police procedurals and historical biographies. About 5 times a year I stumble on something that compels me to do a review. This is such a book. Don't read it if you can't deal with a lesbian as the lead detective -- do read it (even if you are a older straight male like me) if you are a person who really enjoys a fast-moving, involving mystery with a Manchester/Wales backdrop and an insightful self-awareness that is as enjoyable as it is character-rich. There....an entire paragraph, and not one word about the plot -- which you will just have to read for yourself.

Not in love, but definitely in like!

I'm a huge Cari Hunter fan, but I was expecting more from this book. The murder mystery of the book was fantastic, kept me on the edge of my seat!! I absolutely love the narrator! She has an amazing voice and never fails to schmooze my ears and senses. What I didn't like was the romance piece or severely lack there of one. Romance this was not. It all was fairly awkward and kind of a side note. I found myself wondering how did that happen with no lead up, lack of chemistry, and sort of anti climactic. The story would have been just the same with that bit, which says alot. Other than that, the rest of the book was good and still worth the credit!

Excellent Audio!

I loved Alias by Cari Hunter. WoW. You will not be able to stop listening! Once you start, you will not be able to put it down. Excellent mystery. Excellent story. And last but not least, narrated by everyone's favorite narrator, Nicola Victoria Vincent.

Loved it!

A story based on amnesia usually does not get my attention but if Cari Hunter writes a book I have to read it and then listen to it. I trust she will deliver a great story. Alias does not disappoint. In fact it is highly entertaining. I love the way she writes. Her dialogue and imagery are ridiculously appealing and Nicola Victoria Vincent's performance complements her work beautifully. The result is outstanding!

Wished there was more, but enjoyed it nonetheless.

I wanted more for each character I suppose. How "good" of a cop are they really? I wished there was greater interaction between all the named characters good and bad so I would at least truely believe the ending. Something deeper I guess. I would suggest it to another, solely on the angle to story took.

10 Stars!

Picked this up days after reading the Kindle version - as soon as it became available. The narration takes an already great book to another level. Not sure what else to say here. Cari Hunter does not disappoint. Neither does Nicola Victoria Vincent.
