Bloomsbury presents Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow, read by Scott Brick.

You've seen the show, you've sung the songs, now read the full story of America's most misunderstood founding father.
'I was swept up by the story. I thought it 'out-Dickens' Dickens in the unlikeliness of this man's rise from his humble beginnings in Nevis in the Caribbean, to changing, helping shape our young nation. And it's uniquely an immigrant story and it's uniquely a story about writers... It's an amazing biography' LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA

Alexander Hamilton was an illegitimate self-taught orphan from the Caribbean who overcame all the odds to become George Washington's aide-de-camp and the first Treasury Secretary of the United States.

Few figures in American history are more controversial than Alexander Hamilton. In this masterful work, Chernow shows how the political and economic power of America today is the result of Hamilton's willingness to champion ideas that were often wildly disputed during his time. He charts his titanic feuds with Jefferson, Adams, Madison, Monroe and Burr; his highly public affair with Maria Reynolds; his loving marriage to his loyal wife Eliza; and the notorious duel with Aaron Burr that led to his death in July 1804.©2017 Head of Zeus (P)2004 Penguin Random House LLC Americas Historical Military & War Politicians Politics & Activism Presidents & Heads of State Amerikan Tarihi Düşündürücü 1812 Savaşı Evlilik Latin Amerika Vergilendirme Hukuk ABD Anayasası Kurucu Babalar Boston

That biography is incredible. It out-Dickenses Charles Dickens (Lin-Manuel Miranda)
A brilliant recreation of the society and culture of the time: thoughtful and playful, moving and powerful (Michael Gove)

Had no idea what to expect as I like very early history but an so glad I chose this as my first foray into US history. What's remarkable man! Even amongst that group of remarkable people and events, he stands a lot taller than his height. I have changed my opinion on many of the early presidential histories I had gleaned from other stories and documentaries. I would have liked to have met him... and I can't say that about many of the people I have read about. Narration second to none. Well worth the listen

Ron Chernow's magnificent, monumental and lyrical biography of Alexander Hamilton is littered with great stories and wise insights. His biography of John D Rockefeller is equally good.

A monumental biography

It’s taken me some time to finish this audiobook, but I confess I’ve enjoyed every hour or 10 minutes I could snatch of this book. Incredibly detailed, it tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr, Eliza Hamilton and all those whose life Alexander Hamilton touched at some moment. Plus, if you are a musical fan - you’ll notice a lot of lines or key phrases that are woven through Lin Manual’s modern masterpiece.

Incredibly written and well read

A work of extraordinary scholarship. Detailed and close written but with great fluency.
Scott Brick has to be commended for his artistry in his measured delivery. This allowed my slow mind to digest the intricacies Hamilton 's life and times to the full.
