Summary

An unabridged reading of an Agatha Raisin mystery from M. C. Beaton, read by Penelope Keith.

There may be trouble ahead... so will Agatha face the music? Can the feisty Agatha cut it as a private investigator? She soon learns that running her own detective agency in the Cotswolds is not quite like starring in a Raymond Chandler movie. But then walks in wealthy divorcee Catherine Laggat-Brown, and Agatha is given her first real case.

Death threats, blackmail and physical attack soon follow, and once again Agatha is off scouring the countryside for clues and showing friends and enemies alike what Raisin Investigations can do!

agatha raisin is in all of us. these are silly but highly entertaining stories. I love Penelope Keith's narration and intend to listen to everyone in the series, however unbelievable they are. Just genuinely enjoyable.

What a joy!

I enjoy Agatha Raisin on BBC i-player and saw the audiobooks in the 2 for 1 sale. Having been a huge fan of Penelope Keith since my childhood, I couldn't bare the thought of someone else voicing the books. I looked and to my delight, she was the narrator!

There are very few detective stories that I really enjoy but there's such a sense of fun with Agatha Raisin and great plots that I can listen to them over and over. This was no exception and has held my attention from start to finish with Penelope Keith reading each person brilliantly.

Another good read....

Agatha Raisin is as always.... good. So is Penelope Keith reading the story. I cannot imagine anyone else doing the dialogue. Agatha reminds me of myself.

Best so far

My favourite so far. I liked the way different murderers accidentally thwarted each other in ludicrous coincidences. Only slight annoyance was that Gustav seems to have have changed accent since the last book.

Better than other Agatha Raisin titles

I listen to Agatha Raisin stories before I go to sleep because generally the stories are non-existent. This one however had quite a twisty narrative which I really enjoyed

The fifthteen Agatha Raisin I have listened too!

If you could sum up Agatha Raisin and the Deadly Dance in three words, what would they be?

A bit confusing!

What other book might you compare Agatha Raisin and the Deadly Dance to, and why?

The whole series is pretty much to a formula, but all enjoyable if you do not take them seriously.

Have you listened to any of Penelope Keith’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Penelope Keith always gives a good performance.

Any additional comments?

A bit confusing, especially where Sir Charles is concerned. I thought that in the previous book he had married a French lady because she was carrying his twin babies, but it turned out that she wasn't pregnant and he got a divorce. In this book he was divorced because she found someone else while he was in hospital because he had had lung cancer and although the children could see 'Papa' anytime he doubted if he would see them again. So, which is it??

Addictive

Penelope Keith and MC Beaton are a wonderful combination. Penelope loves and relishes the character she has made her own - Agatha Raisin. Her grasp of different character voices is a treat.
This story is long, with the main protagonists not arriving on the scene until just before chapter 3.
No idea why it is titled the Deadly Dance. Good value.
