About this listen

What happens in the wake of Failure Mode?

The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem.

Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

I loved all 16 books but, 16 is enough! Instead of being excited at another installment I am annoyed.
I WILL NOT buy another book in this series, I am not a cash cow and resent the fact that I'm being treated as a 'Soap' viewer who is hooked on the daily goings on of a set of characters.
Such a shame to dangle a pathetic carrot at the end of such a good series of books...

Funny and interesting but annoying at the end.

This is another good addition to the series, and if you like Alanson's style, you'll probably like this. A significant portion of Alanson's writing seems to incorporate elements of the mundane, almost being slice-of-life, dealing with the dynamics and routine of the characters in the worlds he creates. While to some it'll be slow, for me it fleshes out the characters and the world, and combined with Bray's narration it makes for a solid first listen and good background listening on repeat.

A good continuation of Joe's story
