About this listen

Comedian Rachel Parris was asked to give an inspiring graduation speech. Who did she ask for advice? Total strangers....

Over the course of a year, award-winning comedian Rachel Parris asked members of her live audience for advice. Here she takes those random bits of wisdom - such as 'Be Kind' or 'Never Pass Up the Opportunity for a Wee' - and explores them in ways that are funny and serious, hilarious and heartbreaking. This uplifting feminist manifesto of a book outlines the essentials of living in the modern world; dealing with everything from tampons to Tories and from #hashtags to staying hydrated.

funny and thought provoking, I listened to this driving to and from work and walking the dogs - Rachel reads it brilliantly with real warmth, many a time I arrived home and sat in the car or garden to get to the end of a chapter as I was so drawn in. I really enjoyed the format and theme too. Highly recommended!

Something for everyone: from beautifully crafted Tory rants, to feminist insights, to the complexities of families, to brilliantly funny musings on everyday life, this book was wonderful. Expressively read and genuinely interesting. I loved it.

Moving, hilarious and heartwarming

Mostly light hearted, funny and true of life. Well written and narrated. A few moving and sad chapters - ones I particularly related to. Rachel is one intelligent and talented lady. Maybe a sequel in years to come about the next chapters of her life and her experiences……She’s the new but very unique Victoria Wood.

Brave, funny and truthfully raw at times. 10/10

Made me laugh, but also had me bawling, fuming, and importantly thinking. Recommend to everyone.
