'Tom Wright is simply crucial; his writing can transform one's life.' Anne Rice

Join Tom Wright on a journey with the Apostles, exploring the New Testament themes of thankfulness, patience, humility and joy.

Within each of these themes, Wright offers a week of daily readings and meditations, beginning with the Sunday reading in the Revised Common Lectionary and ending with stimulating questions for personal reflection or group discussion.

Drawing on key passages in his popular For Everyone series of commentaries, these sparkling reflections take you on a journey of spiritual enlightenment, guiding you towards the wonder and joy of Christmas.

'Tom Wright is, as always, brilliant at distilling immense scholarship into vivid, clear and accessible form.' Rowan Williams

It is indeed a journey with the apostles and the book has quite a lot of valuable insight into the apostles, but it didn’t have much of an advent feel, nor much relation to the 1st coming of Christ, just some relation to the 2nd coming of Christ. It could have made the connection more and engaged in the theme of advent far more.
As I was looking for a book to help me focus on the 1st coming and 2nd coming of Christ I feel this didn’t do the job.

Not very adventy

An interesting way of thinking of advent through the apostles. I enjoyed the reflections at the end. Space to ponder and think more about the coming of God among us
