Summary
If you don't know Simon Scarrow, you don't know Rome!
The Eagle's Conquest is the thrilling second novel in Simon Scarrow's best-selling Eagles of the Empire series. Essential reading for fans of Bernard Cornwell and Conn Iggulden.
Britannia, AD 43. Bleak, rainy and full of vicious savages, Britannia is a land that Cato, solider of the Second Legion, wishes Rome didn't want to conquer. And as right-hand man to Centurion Macro, Cato sees the very worst of his native Britons, battling alongside his commander in bloodier combat than he could ever have imagined. But the Britons are fighting back with Roman weapons - which means someone in their own ranks is supplying arms to the enemy. Cato and Macro are about to discover even deadlier adversaries than the British barbarians....

Pronunciation
The pronunciation of Cato will drive you mad if you allow it to, most annoying...

Easy reading and an enjoyable story.
Thoroughly enjoyable performance by David Thorpe particularly of a stuttering Claudius, well written light novel.

Macro And Cato march again!
A good book not burdened too much by sticking to historical accuracy. Very enjoyable once you suspend your belief and accept an 18 year old Optio!! Well written and fun it romps along. Well worth reading/ listening took

Great listen
Great story, well researched, well read. Gripping stuff! only negative thing I'd say is the romantic elements are a bit cringey..

Another great Listen
Simon Scarrow builds on the fantastic characters and relationships in the first book to present another compelling story fraught with intrigue.
You can’t help but empathise with Cato as he grows and learns more harsh truths of life.

The Eagle has Landed.
loved it. I enjoy the writing of this new author I was turned ed on to. He makes the characters believable,& still finds time to show some comedy too.
On to the next book.
