Publisher's Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Killing Floor by Lee Child, read by Jeff Harding.

Killing Floor is the first book in the internationally popular Jack Reacher series. It presents Reacher for the first time, as the tough ex-military cop of no fixed abode: a righter of wrongs, the perfect action hero.

Jack Reacher jumps off a bus and walks 14 miles down a country road into Margrave, Georgia. An arbitrary decision he's about to regret.

Reacher is the only stranger in town on the day they have had their first homicide in 30 years. The cops arrest Reacher, and the police chief turns eyewitness to place him at the scene. As nasty secrets leak out and the body count mounts, one thing is for sure.

They picked the wrong guy to take the fall.

    "Brilliant"

Thought I’d try something new. So decided to go back 20 years with the first Jack Reacher story and I was not disappointed! Gripping from the get go - good reading performance (I’m quite fussy about the voices on Audible) and great continuous story I was never bored. So happy now as I have loads more to listen to

    "Great book"

A great book however I'm must say as much as I love Lee childs passion for Jack reacher I feel that if it isn't narrates by Jeff harding then I simply cannot listen to it. The two go hand in hand. Jack reacher is simply fantastic

    "Narration awful "

For me the narration was awful, sounded like he was reading a list, I get that the characters attitude was mater of fact, but really.... only made two chapters, and returned this and the next two. Shame

"Lee child's & Jeff Harding great combination"

The book has all the Jack Reacher moments readers of Lee Childs novels love. Jeff Harding tops it off with all the voices and the combination brings the charicter and the story to life.

"A good listen once you get over the narrator"

A good book really, I enjoyed the story and how it developed but the one thing I’ve struggled with is the nasal and stilted narration. Learned to ignore it and so overall I enjoyed this book. Looked at a few others but think I’ll save my credits for a different narrator 😉

    "good story, bad narrator "

the narrator is very dull and monotone, he hardly changes how he says things and there's no excitement to it, story is good but better of reading the book

"Dreadful voice, mediocre story, dull writing."
Would you try another book written by Lee Child or narrated by Jeff Harding?

    Written by Lee Child? Maybe.
Read by Jeff Harding? Absolutely not !

How could the performance have been better?

Have it read by someone with a less juvenile range of voices.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Interesting premise.

    Any additional comments?

Far too many 'He said', 'I said', 'She said', which stilted the flow of the narrative.

    "Too many "saids""

Being a Lee child can and having enjoyed his books both kindle and hardback, I was very disappointed with the narration of Killing floor. There were far too many she said, he said and I said interruptions to the narration which I feel could have been avoided with better editing. I shall continue trying Lee child books on Audible but will vet them with trial listening before purchasing
