Summary
Roman Britain, AD 52. The western tribes, inspired by the Druids' hatred of the Romans, prepare to make a stand. But can they match the discipline and courage of the legionaries?
Wounded during a skirmish, Centurion Macro remains behind in charge of the fort as Centurion Cato leads an invasion deep into the hills. Cato's mission: to cement Rome's triumph over the natives by crushing the Druid stronghold. But with winter drawing in, the terrain is barely passable through icy rain and snowstorms.
When Macro's patrols report that the natives in the vicinity of the garrison are thinning out, a terrible suspicion takes shape in the battle-scarred soldier's mind. Has the acting Governor, Legate Quintatus, underestimated the enemy, his military judgement undermined by ambition? If there is a sophisticated and deadly plan afoot, it's Cato and his men who will pay the price.

Another great story of Macro and Cato..SUPURB READ
What did you like most about Britannia?
The action sequences well described and the narrator increased the pace to make the action seem dynamic
What did you like best about this story?
The relationship between the two heroes and the camaraderie and language used between military men was in my opinion authentic e.g. the swearing and cursing was correct and appropriate, the way the two heroes bounce off each other is brilliant.
Have you listened to any of Jonathan Keeble’s other performances? How does this one compare?
This performance was equal to the last one Jonathan Keeble does the business once again this narrator is in my opinion superb
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Macro saving Cato with a bash over the head during the retreat
Any additional comments?

Bad history,
The druids were defeated, but mona was not taken, there was no harassment on the way back ,the subjugation of mona was called off , as this was the army that had to go and fight and defeat Boudica at Watling Street
