Summary

Lieutenant John Pearce is in London seeking protection for his friends, the Pelicans, from a reluctant Admiralty. Sitting in the tavern where they were first press ganged, Pearce considers his future.

Lacking the evidence of perjury he once had to bring Captain Ralph Barclay to justice, his prospects are not promising. Ralph Barclay’s young wife, Emily, is refusing to live under the same roof as him and she has the means to get her own way: the evidence Pearce believes was lost at sea.

Pearce’s companions finally arrive in London just in time to join Pearce in fetching a ship laden with contraband back from France - an illegal act but very profitable. Are Pearce and his Pelicans sailing into prosperity or danger?

John Pierce a story that continues

A little long winded, but worthwhile audio listen. The Audio narration good. I could recommend if the John Pierce saga is of interest to you

The Royal Navy comes alive again.

Another good yarn and series. My only gripe is having to listen again to the story so far, understandable for first time readers but not for those who have followed John Pearce from the start.

Well narrated

A bit of a connecting story. Seemed rather short. I warned to and liked the narration, despite some unexpected accents.

I didn't think it was meant to be a love story, where are the ship's and battles ?

The sea has dried up!

Has Blown Off Course put you off other books in this genre?

not the genre, just by this author

Would you be willing to try another one of Jonathan Keeble’s performances?

yes

What character would you cut from Blown Off Course?

John Pearce

Any additional comments?

The series started off well betrayal intrigue action and adventure but after book 5 i started to realise, the author is gonna spin this yarn out and now after reading up to book 8 in the series we still have no real resolve of any of the core issues i feel cheated and i wont be reading further titles in this series or by this author

Weakest of the series (so far)

Through most of the book, very little happens. It is mostly based in London. Very little action. I am increasingly troubled by how much time is spent recapping the story so far. I might give the series a pause. I'm getting a little bored.
