A friendship destroyed by betrayal. A future in question.

Samuel “Max” Maxwell had it all—until a bad business decision by his partner and closest friend, Jacob Amott, cost him everything.

After serving five years in prison, Max walks free with nothing left but a shadowed past and a fractured legacy. His business is gone. His friendship died in betrayal—and in blood.

Now, Max wants a fresh start. But when a chance to reclaim what he lost puts him on a collision course with the organization that killed Jacob, Max must decide: can he outrun his past, or will it bury him for good?

For fans of space adventures layered with conspiracy, intrigue, and the fight for redemption—Absolution is a gripping tale of second chances in a galaxy where trust is dangerous and hope is rare.

The first third is essentially pointless. I would have DNF'd it but hung on due to morbid curiosity.

The action in the second half is marginally better but between the (at best) one dimensional characters; plot holes; non sensicle world building and the dialogue finishing it was a slog.

The dialogue deserves a special mention, it's so packed with clichés I checked this wasn't intended as a parody. Garth Marengi would be proud of it.

The performance was fine, a little slow (I sped up to 1.1x) and it had some questionable Australian accents.

Truly Awful

This is the first book in the series, and it’s a gripping start. The pacing keeps you engaged throughout, with interesting and well-developed characters. There are plenty of twists and turns, all of which come together in a satisfying way by the end. James Blackmore’s narration is good making it an enjoyable listen. Highly recommended.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the author and leave this honest review.
