Summary

For Nolwenn witch Talaith, a bad day begins with being dragged from bed by an angry mob intent on her crispy end and culminates in rescue by - wait for it - a silver-maned dragon. Existence as a hated outcast is nothing new for a woman with such powerful secrets. The dragon, though? A tad unusual. This one has a human form to die for, and knows it. According to dragon law, Talaith is now his property, for pleasure or otherwise. But if Lord Arrogance thinks she's the kind of damsel to acquiesce without a word, he's in for a surprise.

Is the woman never silent? Briec the Mighty knew the moment he laid eyes on Talaith that she would be his, but he'd counted on tongue-lashings of an altogether different sort. It's embarrassing, really, that it isn't this outspoken female's magicks that have the realm's greatest dragon in her thrall. No, Briec has been spellbound by something altogether different, and if he doesn't tread carefully, what he doesn't know about human women could well be the undoing of his entire race.

Critic reviews

"The second installment in Aiken's trilogy ( Dragon Actually, 2008) follows in the quirky, humorous tradition of Xena, offering a welcome high fantasy with modern sensibilities." ( Booklist)

To long

I don’t know if it was the mood I was in but this book failed to grab me,which was disappointing after enjoying book 1 so much. I was always thinking it must be the end soon.

Bravo to a wonderfully action packed erotic story

This happens to be a bwwm love story but without actually using race as a label. The story is part of the series of stories about the rolay family of dragons. The writing is funny, snarky & colorful. The eroctia scene are not too crass & the drama is well place.. G.A. Aiken (Shelly L) is one of the most gifted & entertaining writers around. The characters range in different personallities, skin tone, cultures and gender roles. Any story by this author is a wise decision.. I will continue following the series & any other stories this author writes.

I LOVE G A Aiken.

Would you try another book from G. A. Aiken and/or Hollie Jackson?

I have read all the Laurenston/Aiken books multiple times. She is a fabulous writer if you like quick, dry wit, great dialogue and funny stories and characters. Sadly- she has not had any luck with her idiot publishers finding a narrator that can 1) pronounce the names( when in doubt-ASK! They really aren't hard, you just have to ask. Or Google!) 2) parlay her excellent writing with good pacing and voices. And Hollly REALLY misses this mark. This is just frustrating. Her voices are terrible and it just makes this awesome read so difficult to listen to.

What did you like best about this story?

The story is excellent!

What didn’t you like about Hollie Jackson’s performance?

Poor interpretation of the dialogue, wrong pronunciation of the names, and while this story is witty- she just says the lines flatly. I hope they didn't pay her a lot of money to do this, it was wasted. And it is the publisher's fault- people don't realize that the author doesn't have control over who they get to read her book. Sadly, Shelly doesn't deserve her wonderful writing to be so poorly interpreted..

What character would you cut from About a Dragon?

The narrator- the book is fine as written.

Any additional comments?

What are the publishers thinking? How hard it is to find a good narrator?

Great Book

This is a great book and awesome storyline. However, the male narration is unbelievably horrible.

These two

I will admit that it's been a while since I read this book so I had forgotten a lot of what it was about at first. I'm really happy that it was funnier than I remember, but I have to say I appreciate the two more being reacquainted with their story; it helps knowing the basis for their dynamic for later books.

Fun!

Although the narration needs more space (it barely takes a break) where I assume print has markers to help the flow, this is a great series. I'm not a huge fan of fantasy, but I LOVE this series. Trust me, take a chance, you won't be disappointed.

Love Everything About This Series! 😍

I love everything about this series... EXCEPT the narrator for the second half.

Okay I’ll admit, it took me re-listening to/reading this series to truly appreciate the great job this narrator does. I was at about a 7/10 the first time around with Hollie Jackson reading the Dragon Kin series until my 2nd go round. That lower rating was due in large part to my just having listened to Robert Petkoff (probably my favorite narrator of all time-so far).

Going through this series again has given me a much greater appreciation for HJ’s performance. She portrays these characters quite brilliantly, especially the dragons, and completely epitomizes the tone of the stories. I wish she’d narrated the entire series. The narrator for the latter half botched up DK and completely turned me off the audiobooks.

Please re-record books 5-9 so I can enjoy them as I listen and switch back and forth between reading/listening when necessary. Audible has spoiled me for simply reading a book. I’m utterly addicted to immersion reading!

Loved it

I cannot believe how much humor was woven in with dragon action! I love the characters in this series. They are so colorful and each holds their own story line. Good job!

Gets better and better

Briec starts out as flat, dull, boring and unlikeable as they come. But as the book continues he grows on you. Taliath proves to be another strong and brave female lead. And of course you get to see how things are going with the other main Dragon Kin from Book 1 so overall it was enjoyable. I simply don’t think I’d choose this particular dragon which is why the story got 4 stars. But I’m hooked on the Series now and highly recommend it to those that enjoy a good paranormal romance.

I'm reading as fast as I can

I love her strong characters you really care about them by the time you finish reading the book. And they can really make you laugh. Hollie Jackson can read me to sleep any time. She never messes up her voices. I can always tell who is talking. I always (at least so far) enjoy Shelly's book. She needs to write faster.
