About this listen

She thought it would be just one lie…How far would you go to save your best friend?

From the Sunday Times bestselling author of Just My Luck and Both Of You, this is a twisty, gripping novel of friendship and lies…

'I need you to say that I was with you.'

For thirty years, best friends Steph and Pip have been through thick and thin. There's nothing they would not do for one another. Until these simple words change everything.

Steph, eternally solid and dependable, is begging her friend to lie to the police as she's desperately trying to conceal not one but two devastating secrets to protect her family.

Pip, self-consigned to the role of scatty hot-head, is overwhelmed; she's normally the one asking for help in a crisis. It's a big ask. So what would you do?

'Adele doesn't disappoint with this tale of friendship put to the ultimate test!'

'Kept me gripped to the last page'

'Fantastic book which is full of twists and turns'

'I loved reading it and didn't really want to finish it! Looking for my next one of Adele's now'

'It touches on situations between close friends and relationships in a way that I've never read before. The pace of the story is spot on, the words flow beautifully'

'A true test of friendship – I found myself questioning my own relationships. The plot had me gripped from beginning until the end. I would recommend this to all of my friends'

‘Chilling, gripping and entirely unputdownable’ Lisa Jewell

‘Kept me guessing and had me gasping at the twist’ Ian Rankin

‘Ambitious, nail-biting, darkly voyeuristic – I tore through it in two sittings' Louise Candlish

‘Addictive, provocative and thoroughly relatable’ T.M. Logan

‘An absolute joy: gripping, shocking and surprising’ Jane Fallon

I loved all of her other books but this was disappointing. If you haven’t read the others you would probably love this

Not up to the usual gripping storyline

I’m normally love her books but feel there was to much mundane description & not gripping & feeling tentative or excited for the next chapter

Mundane

Unfortunately I was disappointed throughout. No depth for me
Tedious, long winded, predictable, weak,
I got nothing out of this book.
So much padding. I like a good description of what’s going on, setting the scene etc but sometimes there was too much unnecessary page filling - for my preference.

My own fault. I should have returned but was ever hopeful it would turn around

More Mills and Boone than the Adele Parks I have read previously

Disappointing

I mostly enjoyed this book because I liked the characters especially the mistress who was very entertaining
The problem was I guessed the ending very early on There was a good level of humour and true to life occurrences to make me stay to the end Worth a listen
