Summary

I can’t let my captor claim me as his mate, no matter how much I want him...

I’ve been swept off my feet before, and I’ve got the bruises to show just how badly that ended. I’m not about to fall at the feet of the next man - or alien - to cross my path. Especially not when he steals me away from home and wants to use me as his broodmare.

Kloran is intense and sometimes scary. A prince of his people with a duty so deeply ingrained it’s hard to see where it ends and he begins. But the glimpses of the man beneath the hardened warrior prince make me wonder if there’s something more between us. I may be a slave, but in his arms I feel like his queen.

And when he says he’s going to claim me as his mate, my knees go weak. But I’ve been fooled before. If I say yes to him, am I dooming myself to another hellish existence? Or could he really give me everything I ever wanted?

Well written tale!!

This is a brilliantly created universe with plenty of detail to make it all plausible. Good strong characters with a rather reluctant connection but it does get very steamy at times.
I loved how Bria manages to survive all of the horrible situations she finds herself in.
Brutal at times, action packed and fast paced. A very enjoyable story. Im looking forward to the next book.
Brilliant narration

Interesting take on alien and human relations

I thought this was a good start to the series. There were some interesting aspects- Bria was abducted off of Earth while escaping from an abusive husband. She finds out that she was sold as a slave but really, slave is a misnomer- these are women who have sold themselves to be breeders. I don't really understand the terminology except maybe to cause more arguments between Bria and Kloren for interest across the story?

I overall liked Kloren and how he treated Bria. He was a bit cranky but overall, he and his brethren seemed generally good (A few of them were a bit crass but given that they have few women in their world, I guess it was meant to reflect that). Once they found out that she was there unwillingly, they wanted to give her their freedom although they pushed their luck to see if Bria and the human women were good matches to them. Add in some issues associated with kidnappers, slavers and issues with diplomacy with other alien nations, and this was a well rounded story.

Sierra Kline and Logan McAlister were the narrators of the audiobook and they were good. Logan McAllister had a raspy voice and slightly overexaggerated a few of his characters' voices so that they felt unnatural but overall, I thought he did well. Sierra Kline also did well playing multiple roles and I enjoyed their rendition of the book.

Alien Abduction

Roxie did an excellent job in creating this fantasy world. First in creating an earth that is different than reality in so many ways, but the same in many of them. Bria is running from an abusive husband and finds herself in more trouble than she bargained for. Klorian is a general and a prince of his world and is as unfamiliar with humans as Bria is with any alien life forms. Together they find a way to connect and possibly make things work as they learn more about each other’s species. The narrators do such an excellent job, I really believe it was much better to listen to this book than simply reading it.

Interesting

The storyline was very interesting and detailed. Dived into the story right away. Was very puzzled going from the odd setting of different sectors to all of a sudden in outer space. That part was a little weird, no lead in there. Otherwise I enjoyed the characters and storyline. AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Fabulous story!

This is the first book I have listen to by this author. I have to say Wow! I have listen to one of your audiobooks and I love it!
I found it to be well written. You have a fantastic imagination that let me get lost in an alien story. You have a way of telling a story that has me seeing what you wrote. I look forward to more of your audiobooks.
The narrator’s do a wonderful job with the characters and voices of each character which makes it easy to distinguish between the characters. I definitely enjoyed listening to this audiobook and I can’t wait for more!

Fun Story, Ridiculous Woman

This is an amazing story about an abused woman who is kidnapped from Earth while she is running from her husband. She awakens in a sterile room on a spaceship. Kloran is a Lunarian Prince whose mission is to find a race that can breed with Lunarians to keep their race from becoming extinct. Kloran becomes enamored with Bria as soon as he saw her on the slave mart. But things get a bit harder when Kloran finds out that Bria was kidnapped rather than signing up for the sex slave mart. Kloran must convince the beautiful Bria to trust him and to help him to save his race.

The story is well written and I love the characters for the most part. However... Bria is such a pain in the ass. I seriously don't like her, I find her grating! She is an abuse victim so I understand some of her issues, but she just is so flaky and irritating. The other characters mostly make up for her, Kloran is a dynamic character who you actually see growth during the book.

I love the narrators! And I am thrilled that Sierra and Logan are narrating the next book too. Roxie Ray is a fabulous writer and I cannot wait to start the next book!!!

Fortunate mistake

Previously I had purchased a book by the same author that I ended up finding very boring and couldn’t even finish. I had forgotten that when I purchased this one. I’m glad that I did because this turned out to be a very good story for this genre. One thing I dislike is purchasing a book that ends up being one hour of story and five hours of sex. This is not the case for this story. It had a nice story with a nice balance of sex sprinkled in.

Tense, compelling, and steamy

I really enjoyed this steamy sci-fi romance. This is the first book by Roxie Ray that I have read, and I am impressed with the high quality of the writing and the narration. I was hooked from the first minute of the audiobook. There is a visceral immediacy, especially in the heroine’s early chapters. I think that fans of Ruby Dixon and similar authors would love it. The love scenes are very steamy and are not too many to overwhelm the plot. I will definitely listen to more audiobooks by Roxie Ray. This book is written in first person perspective that alternates between the two main characters. The dual narrators give a 5-star performance in every way. There is also a happy ever after for this couple.

I love the heroine’s intelligence, grit, and determination even with the PTSD caused by her ex-husband. Bria has standards in a relationship and is reasonably cautious. She has an admirable inner strength. Kloran is an alpha who is generally a good guy. He has a temper and yells sometimes but would never physically abuse a woman. He has some flaws but is mostly likable. The book also has good world-building that provides a great setup for future books. I am looking forward to plunge into the next book starring Kloran’s best friend.

The book blurb accurately describes the book, but I will add a few details. The heroine Bria lives on a near-future Earth in which America has turned into an authoritarian state in which anyone who offends the government is permanently thrown into a work camp, and women’s rights have been reduced. There is a rigid class structure with hardly any upward mobility. In the midst of escaping from her abusive husband, Bria gets kidnapped by greedy aliens, drugged, and illegally sold into slavery in outer space. The civilized Lunarian species bought her thinking that she had signed up to be a slave and mother by artificial insemination. Lunarians are similar to humans except stronger and with brighter colors of eyes and skin.

Trigger Warning and minor spoiler: All sex in the story is consensual, but a secret fertility treatment was nonconsensual, which bothered me and made me give it 4 stars instead of 5. At least Kloran felt remorse for the nonconsensual procedure.

I requested and received a free audiobook copy via #AudiobookObsession, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Love the Prince

I received this audiobook free for an honest review as a member of the Pink Flamingo Production Review Team. This is a great alien romance. Bria was abducted and guess who bought her, Kloran. It was tough at first, but love bloomed. You can't help but fall in love with the alien. The author brings the listener in from the first and doesn't let go. I can't wait for the next book in the series. This is very enjoyable standalone. The narrators were great. They brought this awesome story to life.

Familiar storyline

The storyline followed the storyline of many paranormal romance books; however, I really liked this one. Narrators were wonderful and brought out the true personality of characters. I love books like this as long as the narration is good and the female character isn’t to obnoxious and sarcastic. The couple in this story were good together.

🌻Well, this definitely lacks creativity 🙁🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

This was a disappointment. I was looking for something a bit different, from my usual listen, and thought I’d give Roxie Ray, a listen. It started out ok but then got pretty ridiculous. Yes, I know it’s Science Fiction, that’s not what I mean. I’m referring to the fact that the Heroine is a victim of brutal domestic abuse but has little problem starting a relationship with an aggressive Alien that kidnapped her. She suffers from panic attacks and PTSD and I found it hard to believe that she would be willing to start any relationship or be intimate with any man, so soon after her dark history.

In addition, the rest of the plot is predictable and has been done so many times; Alien race searching for a race that their warriors can mate with.

Anyway, this one is going back!😡

So-so

This is in no way a bad story, and there is even moments I found myself laughing at certain scenes. I even wanted to see what happened to the main characters. However, it lacks a sophistication even if you judge it solely on what genre it belongs to.

Often times in the story the characters swing from one side of the emotion spectrum to the other. It lacks definition of who the characters really are when this happens. The complex emotions the writer tries to get the main characters to display come off as they have never been though those situations or understands the layered emotions such experiences roughts in a person. When the writer treats these feelings as superficial it keeps the reader from deeply bonding with the characters and immersing themselves in the story. Often why any reader picks up a book is because they want to go on the same adventures and discoveries the main characters are on, and because of the lack of depth this book makes it harder to do so.

Even though I have found this story to not be what it should, I will say the writer does hold promise. There are scenes in the book that are on the cusp of being very well written and world building that holds promise that the potential reader will want to keep visiting. What the writer truly needs is a great editor who helps them pull these scenes out. They need to keep rewriting until the characters tell their stories in genuine ways. The writer may have developed this over the next few books they have written; however, I am not sure if I want to possible endure the next story to see if there is any improvement.

Interesting

First time for me with Aliens but I enjoyed it. The author gives enough detail to set the scene in your head of what is happening. You fall in love with the lead characters and want what is best for both. I am ready to see book 2 and hope it continues the story that is unfolding!!! Narrator was easy to listen to. #AudiobookObsession
