Story
The world is in ruins. Scattered pockets of humanity rule over their own territory, and by the 24th century, a merciless political group known as the Party has seized control of the nation through military force. They'll never let that power go. Party soldiers patrol the streets around the clock, and the citizens are watched day and night by cameras and drones. Freedom is dead, but from the darkness comes a glimmer of light - a hope of overthrowing the vicious regime.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Cal's "honeymoon" didn't start off quite how he'd planned. For starters, he was heading somewhere he didn't actually want to go. And secondly, he was going alone and unmarried. He had no idea that his first visit to New York City would also land him in the middle of a domestic terror attack, forcing him to flee Manhattan in a desperate bid to survive. This was no ordinary terror attack. The Movement, in a misguided attempt to seize political control of the USA, unwittingly invited the destruction of their homeland.

When the end of the world arrived, it came not with a bang, as most expected, but with more of a "pfft" instead. Humanity has been torn asunder and brought to the edge of total annihilation in less than an hour. For those who died, it was a quick death, so fast that their brains didn't have time to process the pain signals from their nerves. For those who survived, the true horror is about to begin as they struggle to not only stay alive, but come to grips with the shocking realization about what - and who - was responsible.

Story
Seven years have passed since the outbreak of the Tilian Virus and the effects of the disease devastated the world.
A resilient band of survivors have overcome insurmountable odds. But now, on the brink of human extinction, can hope's dim light be strengthened? Can a cure exist to purge the darkness before the infected complete their domination?
Summary
The survivors are trapped. Cut off from the rest of the world and quarantined as the virus spreads to every corner of the country, while the combined forces of the naval fleet set sail for deeper waters and leave the UK to its fate.
Facing the aftermath of the battle for the island, the groups are separated as the bonds of friendship and camaraderie are violently severed, and they must survive on their own. Every effort to survive is fraught with peril, and those left behind must battle to find some form of safety, no matter how brief that respite might be.
As it dawns on those left behind that the rest of the world has turned its back on them, they must cope with the realization that they are alone, and fight against the brutality that threatens them at every turn. Brutality from both the infected and the rest of the world as it devolves into nuclear Armageddon.
Rejoin Johnson, Peter, Amber, and the others in the immediate aftermath of the island battle, as they strive to find safety, to survive after being truly abandoned.

Yet more gold from Devon C Ford
I love zombie books and have scraped the barrel at times. Thank goodness for this series as a great mix of horror, emotion and comedy. My only gripe is that the books are not a long listen so always a tricky call with the monthly credit. However- high quality stuff

Not in your face about it, but the echoes of the late 80's really resonate. It's a bit like am intentionally dated version of Arisen and I like it. Wish the books were put together in pairs.

I totally love this series!
The story continues following the lives of Peter, the army and various splinter groups. DCF weaves a tale of survival, betrayal and those that turn downright nasty!
I love the strong characters, standing up for others, the humour and of course zombies!

Series holds up! Outstanding story...
I’m on book 4 in the series - I wanted to be sure the series would hold up before encouraging others to listen/read.
MAN DOES IT HOLD UP! Awesome series!
I love series like Galaxy’s Edge, Star Wars (pre Disney more than post), Ember War, Rise, After It Happened, etc. I love strong male characters and strong female characters - but I REALLY love men to be chivalrous because they respect and appreciate women. This girl won’t ever snub her nose at a man doing things he was genetically equipped to do better than me.
Who will be glad they took a chance on this? Anyone who loves to care about the plight of the characters and feel anticipation and adrenaline during military/battle footage.
It’s extra helpful if a reader likes Post-Apocalyptic stories w/ zombies.
It’s pretty gory and graphic in the zombie bits.

This is bad
This series is bad. I’ve tried to trudge through it despite how it drags on but I can’t anymore. The narration is not good. It’s overacted and the narrator makes all American accents sound like a cross between Matthew Mcconaughey and Forrest Gump. By book 3, there is no longer a plot. Just constant skirmishes. Very few times have I ever dropped a series without finishing it, but this is certainly one.
