Summary

Anneke’s typical day at the office is thrown into disarray when she finds her next patient is an unwitting werewolf. And it doesn’t end there.

From the moment Caleb Kitt walks into Doctor Anneke Lund’s office for his psychiatry session, she knows his problem isn’t mental. He’s been experiencing night terrors, having violent and bloodthirsty dreams, and waking up naked in strange places. But he’s not losing his mind, as he suspects. He’s actually a werewolf - he just doesn’t know it yet.

Anneke isn’t just a psychiatrist - she’s also an empath, meaning she can read minds, and influence thoughts and behavior. She rarely uses her powers, but recognizes she may have no other choice as Caleb must be convinced of his supernatural status before the next full moon arrives. When it does, though, she finds herself going way beyond her duty of care to ensure Caleb doesn’t hurt or kill anyone when he transforms. But at what cost?

Love this idea and it was narrated well.

Juliette Longwell does really well bringing these characters to life. Her narration sucked me right in and kept a hold of me. Oh man I know this is just a novella but I didn't want it to end! I would have happily spent more time with them and I want to know how they work stuff out! It's a really great idea and set up and works very well. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My Thoughts A Werewolf State of Mind

This book had an interesting premise. The blurb sounded good, and honestly, I liked the narrator. I just think overall it missed some potential in the writing or the plot. The story was shorter than most I listen to, so I took that into account. I just think I was missing a few more twists and maybe a bit more action. Or maybe a bit more actual romance. I was missing the interaction and getting to know you part for me to really feel the connection between the two main characters. Maybe the situation they were dealing with heightened things and helped their connection along, but I just didn’t feel it. I found both characters to be likable for the most part, but I just didn’t get invested in them. I would be interested in hearing more from this narrator in future, and maybe even trying a different story from this author. But preferably a longer one in hopes that I’ll get more from the characters to believe in their connection and to get invested in their HEA. 🎧AudiobookObsession Reviewer

Short and unusual for paranormal romances

This audiobook is short and quite unusual for a paranormal romance. In fact, the romance in the story is almost an afterthought to the actual plot. Dr Anneke is a psychiatrist with special gifts. Caleb Kitt comes to her with unusually vivid dreams that seem to be affecting him physically too. Turns out he is a werewolf but he does not know it. In fact, he is entirely unaware of supernatural beings and Anneke feels duty bound to inform him of the situation and help him through the change before anyone gets hurt. This story is definitely interesting and quite unusual for this genre. It was quick and easy to listen to though i wish it were a little longer so that the audience got a little more insight into the development of the romantic relationship between the two protagonists. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

A unique shifter story

The storyline was definitely unique in its concept. I feel like with more time and development this could have been a much better book. As a novella though it just didn't quite click for me. It had some bright spots and spots that just felt rushed and underdeveloped. I'd love to see this as a longer series though. I do think it has potential. The narrator has a plesent voice to listen too. There isn't really a lot of difference between the male and female voices though. It's not a bad performance but not a stellar one either. #audiobookobsessionreviewer

Good!

Some great sexual chemistry made for a hot steamy scene. I liked how they met and especially her awesome powers. I would have definitely liked to see her use her powers more. The whole story was very good and I really enjoyed it. The narrator was new to me but I really enjoyed her and thought she did an excellent job. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Short, but Sweet

This was a fun quick read, that left me wanting more. The narration got a little boring but was still very enjoyable, and my only wish was that it was longer. Other than that it's totally worth the time, money, or credits spent.

Simple, sweet PNR romance

Not much to say, guy goes to shrink because he thinks he's a werewolf, turns out he just might be and only this shrink can help. It's "sweet" because although they do have sex, it's the closed door kind. The narration is done in an English UK accent and is a simple, no surprises straight forward story but is a quick listen while you're on the run.

Good Read

A Werewolf State of Mind was a great read by Lucy Felthouse. Caleb went to see Dr. Anneke for psychiatry sessions. He has been having night terrors and very violent dreams. He also wakes up in strange places naked. Anneke knows that it isn’t a problem with his mentality and the fact that he’s a werewolf. Luckily for him Anneke is an empath and knows how to help him. I really enjoyed Caleb and Anneke’s story.

Wanted more

I love the premise. It grabbed me from the beginning but slowed in the middle. I enjoyed the ending but wish there had been more to it. And I wish I’d felt a bit more chemistry between the characters. I was given this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting take on a werewolf story

This book wasn't bad. It is an interesting take on dealing with becoming a werewolf. I know this is a novella, but I wanted a little more worldbuilding. What kind of paranormal creatures inhabit this world? Do they interact with each other? Do non-paranormal people know about the paranormals in their midst? I feel like there could have been more to this just so readers have a better feel for what's going on outside of Anneke and Caleb. I really liked the fact that Anneke is a psychiatrist. It think it would be awesome if she became a psychiatrist specifically for the paranormal community. Now that is something I could get behind. Think of all the werewolves, vampires, and beasties that would come for appointments and the problems they would have. Somebody write this! I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator, Juliette Longwell, had a very soothing voice. I do wish she had slightly more variety in her character voices because sometimes it wasn't always clear who was speaking. Longwell has the perfect voice for someone who was a psychiatrist, but sometimes that meant that there wasn't enough modulation for intense scenes. Good

I got this free story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This was a good quick read. It was strange in some places but overall a good story. she was unwilling to get tranquilizer darts to help him get over his second change into a werewolf but in the end, they made it through. Good plot twist and narration.

Entertaining, quick listen

Entertaining story! The narrator did a good job; she has a nice accent. I liked the set-up for this story. Going to a psychiatrist because weird things are happening to you; only to find out that you are becoming a werewolf. Anneke is the doctor, who has some knowledge of the paranormal since she’s an empath. The empath stuff was an interesting addition to the story. Anneke wants to help Caleb with his “issue”, but she’s not exactly well versed in all things werewolf. There is a bit of a love connection, but they are quite awkward with each other. Overall, an interesting take on becoming a werewolf that kept me entertained for the whole thing.
