Summary

Jealousy. Lies. Betrayal. Murder.

A toxic love triangle erupts into dark obsession.

Logan is poison and Kristen knows it. His lust for drugs, sex, and danger is spiraling out of control. Yet every time she tells herself it’s over, his seductive power draws her back. Caught in a vicious cycle of love and hate, she is on the verge of insanity.

Until Jake.

An aspiring artist desperate to wipe out his dark past, Jake’s life is a constant struggle. A protector by nature, he needs Kristen to fill the void in his life. Together their worlds are rattled by a love so powerful it promises to change everything.

The master manipulator.

Logan has other plans. Driven by a fierce desire for power and control, he has everything he needs. He will never let anyone take Kristen or interfere in his life. Nothing will stop him from winning, not even his tenuous grip on reality.

Obsessive love knows no bounds.

Jake will die for Kristen.

Logan is ready to kill for her.

Sorry but not for me

I’m not sure how to rate this audiobook, it was entertaining but I’m not sure I actually liked it. I like dark romance and love triangles but something just didn’t quite work for me. I loved the suspense aspects of the story but I struggled with the domestic violence elements and although I know it’s realistic, I also didn’t really like any of the characters, I felt they were all manipulating each other. I thought the narration was good and kept me going.

Great listen!

Great characters and story, with some twists that I didn’t see coming. Fantastic narrator who really captured the emotions in the story and brought the characters to life. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Emotional love triangle

If you like psychological twists with drama and head games you will get confused and extremely emotional about. I will warn you it does have a good cliffhanger that your probably not going to expect. This was the first time I listened to a book from this author or of this kind of love triangle, and it is filled with a lot of drama and heartache.

Complicated Love Triangle

A War of Hearts is unlike anything that I've listened to before. I wasn't expecting it to be such a complicated love triangle. The narrator did a good performance with this book, I just wish there would have been more distinction between character voices. The ending of this book surprised me.

DRAMA and Games of the heart

This story is well written but I wouldn't have called it a Psychological Thriller. Romantic drama in my opinion is more accurate.
I also wouldn't have called the book A War of Hearts, but more like Drama of Hearts.
This isn't my normal reading - perhaps because I normally stay clear of my friends with severe bad judgement with regards to relationships. This story tears at my heart, makes me mad, and a turmoil of emotions and head games, constant head games...and how communication hurts and solves problems. If you're looking for a book that will make you feel, empathize with characters, get angry at characters this is definitely a book for you.
Just an fyi - no HEA - there is a cliff hanger

Psychological!

This is my first Karen Lynn book, and it left me just at the point that I needed to know the answers! This psychologically entangling story has a love triangle. Kristen is in a toxic marriage with Logan. He is a man with many issues, womanizing, drugs, controlling, you name it, he is the man that makes me cringe. Then there is the sweet side of him that shows me why Kristen married him. Kristen then meets Jake in the park. Here is the handsome, wonderful man that finds the best in Kristen. Their attraction is immediate, hot and full of passion. Jake seems like a great guy, but his insecurity at times was a bit disconcerting. Now put all three of these together with a cast of secondary characters, like Ray and Marti and we have a story that will catch your attention and keep you interested from scene to scene. There are secrets in Jake's past, danger that Logan brings, mass manipulation by both men and Kristen's surprise that will blow it all out of the water and create a decision that left me with my mouth hanging open! I can't wait for book two to see where this will lead!

Claire Riley narrates the story with precision and pace. I didn't think she always connected with the characters, but she does have good voices and carried them consistently through the book. I enjoyed the story and look forward to the next.

Great start, but I need more!!!

Great storyline, I’ve not read/listened to a book like this before. I’m not sure if I want to hug or slap the leading lady though! She’s very frustrating and has complicated emotional issues. If you like your books with lots of twists and turns this is the book for you. Looking forward to book 2.

War is right!

This was a back and forth Love triangle that was like a train wreck to watch. You could see the trouble coming but couldn't look away. The female was so back and forth on what she wanted that I started to get whiplash. Cheating is not my favorite in books but that is just me personally. I did enjoy the book - The middle was a little slow going for me but the end packed a punch. All in all, good story, damaged characters (but that is just part of the story) :)

Narration was great. A pleasure to listen to and good character voices.

Whining baby

Okay this story was great the last hour. Before that I felt like it was just a whining mess. Going back and forth between both men, not understanding each other because we haven't know each other long, and over all over dramatic. This book could have been cut to about three hours and gave the same over all story.

Pretty good!

I loved the story and the idea of it! I am not a big fan of third person, but if done correctly, I don't even notice. However, here, I became a little confused switching though between characters within the paragraph (without any spacing). I also wished they was more diverse dialog from the narrator. Sometimes I got confused on who was talking. Overall, I liked the story line!

A War of Hearts

This book is about three seriously flawed characters making all kinds of wrong choices. The book moved along pretty slow for me at first although it did get more interesting as it went on. I was looking forward to finding out how it all ended when I realized this book actually ends in a cliffhanger which was rather disappointing. Then when I looked it up, it sounds like I have to listen to or read two more books to actually see how it ends. Claire Riley did a good job with the narration. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Troubling Triangle

This is a crazy back and forth Triangle.
It is a good story but it did seem a little long. It almost felt like a very long argument. Having said that it is refreshing to have a story with cheating and angst once on awhile. The struggle is real. Narration voice is good. Didn’t expect a cliffhanger.

Riveting

A War of Hearts is a gritty, dark, intense psychological thriller that is not for a sensitive reader or listener. From beginning to end it will keep you guessing, shaking your head and asking why, and if your like me you will go for book 2.
We have three main characters Logan a crazy, stalking husband with a serious drug, alcohol and sex addiction.
Jake a starving artist/bartender who goal in life is to become known in the art community, sell his paintings and help Kristen get away, stay away and safe from her additive husband.
Then we have Kristen who seems to be a magnet to these two completely different men. She totally baffles me? She has Jake in the palm of her hand, he is good loving and kind, yet she continues to fall under Logan’s spell, knowing he will only continue to hurt her. Why?
I am reviewing this audible book for Audiobook Obsession and the author thank you.

Dark twisted love triangle

Kristen, Logan and Jake are all a mess on their own. Together they are a disaster. Kristen tired of the drugs her husband Logan is involved with meets and falls in love with Jake only to go back to Logan again is a dark twisted psychological story. It’s well written and worth the listen

Love triangle for sure.

I’m intrigued to find out what happens to the three characters in this book. I usually don’t have as much trouble with characters finding themselves and leaving one relationship for another, but I found it a troublesome issue in my soul when Kristen sleeps with both Jake and Logan. I understand wanting to get out of an uncomfortable relationship and entering another but it just bothers me that she gets with both of them and not just once.

I also had a bit of trouble finding these young adults using drugs so much, perhaps a lot has changed since I’ve lived for the bar scene so this is just my opinion.

I found the narrator to do a grand job on this book, yet could have used a more masculine voice for the male parts. I admit that I prefer dual narrative for this reason.

I am wanting to see what becomes of all three main characters and I’m worried for Kristen hoping she finds who makes her happiest and finding her HEA. Of coarse I’m routing for one of her guys but you’re going to have to listen and decide for yourself who you want her to be with. We’re all going to have to listen or read the next book to find out what happens with these three. Will it be Logan or Jake who gets the girl? I’m an enquiring mind and will follow up on the next book to see who it is.

Slow but worth it at the end

Slow to start, but once it got going it was exciting. I hate Logan so much, and Jake makes me question my judgement. Hope alot of questions get answered in the next book. Looking forward to it!!! My only issue was the narrators mispronunciation of a few words. Might just be me though.
