Summary

Master criminal Christmas "Crazy-Eyes" Parker is trying to plan an impossible heist of a mysterious package she was contracted to steal, while also trying to track down and kill her government contact Horace Murchison, who double-crossed her and her men.

Meanwhile, Detective Ben Weizmann attempts to track down Parker as part of a wider case against her boss, ruthless industrial magnate Atusa Navarro, whom Weizmann-correctly-suspects of being the lynchpin of a conspiracy between the government and organized crime. If he can prove his hypothesis correct, it'll be the case of his life-hell, the case of the century - though he's pursuing it while navigating the wreckage of his personal life, a deteriorating marriage, the deteriorating health of his youngest son....

All of this has potential consequences for the upcoming election for the Chancellorship of the Galactic Coalition, the singular umbrella government which controls every planet inhabited by humankind.... Competing visions are arising for the future of mankind's place in the galaxy and the universe, and it remains to be seen which will emerge victorious....

Politics and crime, faith and reason, power and money, fate and chance all intersect across a mosaic of lives in a noir heist story set in a distant alternate future. A Voice in the Thunder is Book One of the Children and Ghosts Quintet.
