Summary

Savannah Dupree is a freshman studying at Boston University on a full scholarship. But Savannah possesses something even more remarkable than a quick mind and an insatiable curiosity for learning. With a simple touch, she can see an object's past - a skill that puts her life in danger when her studies bring her into contact with a centuries-old English sword and the terrible secret hidden within the blade's history. In all his 300 years of living as one of the Breed, vampire warrior Gideon never dreamed he'd ever again see the blade that ended his young brothers' lives ages ago in London. There's one certain way to prove Gideon's suspicion, but it will mean using Savannah to help uncover the truth. With danger closing in from all sides, the passion that ignites between Gideon and Savannah will tempt them to risk their hearts and lives for a love that might just last an eternity.

Contains mature themes.

Vampires are real, and seriously hot!

This is the first of Lara Adrians Midnight Breed books that I have bought audio narration for but it definitely won't be the last. The story is not a typical Vampire romance and though it can be read standalone. I think to really enjoy this series that I would recommend reading all the following books in order as there is a continuing arc that does not completely conclude to the very last book in the series. Gideon is part of a secretive order of gorgeous Vampire Warriors trying to protect humanity. Along the way he finds the only woman he can love elst battling an There are some seriously hot sex scenes but this is secondary to the main story revolving around an ancient evil from his past. If I had one complaint it would be that as mature English woman that I would have liked two narrators, one of which should have been a man with a British accent. I feel that would have made the story even better but only having a female narrator did not detract from the excellent story. Will certainly be purchasing more narration for Lara Adrians books.

Really awful narration

The narrator did a horrible job narrating the male lead character Gideon. He was supposed to be British but having lived in Boston for many many decades. You'd expect a toned down English accent, right? Nope. She was all over the place, sometimes sounding Scottish, sometimes Australian, some Irish, and maybe even a little Canadian. There was some English accent in there, but it wasn't consistently from one area in England either. It was distracting enough to pull me right out of the story, which was really good on its own.

The start of a new beginning.

This is my first foray into Lara Adrian and I am pleasantly surprised. A lot of people have told me that this book is almost like BDB (Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward. I can see why some people could see that. There are a lot of silimiatries when it comes to these series. I cannot say if this series is on the same level of BDB but I am up to the task.

I enjoyed Savannah and Gideon. Savannah was not the typical heroine. She did not go half cocked and think what she knew was best. There are so many times where a heroine thinks that she knows what she is doing but actually puts not only herself but the hero in danger. Savannah knew what she could do and what she couldn't and accepted that.

Gideon was you typical alpha male but in a good way. He knew he cared for her from the beginning and wanted to protect her. Unfortunately for him and most alpha males then tend to go overboard or tend to hind things from the heroine and shit starts to hit the fan. In this case that is what happens.

Even with the couple of hiccups I enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to learning more about this world and I am excited to read more about the different characters. I heard a lot of good things about Lucan's book, Kiss of Midnight.

The narrator

I didn’t like it
The other reviews are completely true, the narration left much to be desired.
The story was fine. Nothing new, predictable. There was some unanswered questions like, what happen to the bullet stuck in his brain? Or, why did he loose one of his lability? But I guess I can let it go.

Fantastic Series

I loved this book. It was exciting from start to finish. I liked Savannah and the gift she has. It was like having the Midas touch with a twist. The narrators Voice was just the right pitch and aided me in engaging with the characters and not the narrators Voice. The Breed Series is awesome!

Good Story

Great novella. Dialog a little cliche for me but overall a very good story. Great addition to the series.

Great Series!

It was fun to read the beginning of this series! I listened to the story and the narrator did a good job, but I didn't like some of the accents. I've really enjoyed every book of this series so far, and I've read pretty much all of them. So I definitely recommend reading it! Love the idea of The Breed (Vampire like people), and the romance is always passionate and sweet. Savannah is human, and Gideon is Breed. Savannah's friend is murdered, and it's possible it may have been a Rogue Breed so Gideon is checking it out. There's an attraction between Savannah and Gideon, but Savannah doesn't know about the Breed. She's also got some secrets up her sleeve. Some of the dialog wasn't great; especially Savannah's sister, and there was a bit too much of the women being damsels, but still an entertaining story. I really enjoy the bits of action as well! Definitely read this series!

Decent read if you're looking for something quick.

I really like the concept of the characters. I would've liked him to get to know each other a little more. There were parts of it just seemed a little bit far-fetched as far as certain reactions and whatnot to me, but overall it wasn't too bad of story. If you're looking for something quick and needed daily dose of over-the-top drama than this is for you. :-)
