Thirty years since the release of the iconic film adaptation starring Matthew McConaughey and Samuel L. Jackson, revisit Clanton and the story that introduced the world to Jake Brigance.

When Carl Lee Hailey guns down the hoodlums who have raped his ten-year-old daughter, the people of Clanton see it as a crime of blood and call for his acquittal.

But when extremists outside Clanton hear that a black man has killed two white men, they invade the town, determined to destroy anything and anyone that opposes their sense of justice.

Jake Brigance has been hired to defend Hailey. It's the kind of case that can make or break a young lawyer. But in the maelstrom of Clanton, it is also the kind of case that could get a young lawyer killed...

The multi-million copy bestselling thriller that introduced Jake Brigance and inspired a sequel, Sycamore Row.

Enjoyed the story and the characters. Quite graphic in parts but otherwise a straight forward plot.

A long story. No twists or turns just a straight forward court room drama.

I enjoyed this audiobook, i didn’t give it 5 stars as the story was somewhat unbelievable, I think you can see it was a first novel. The characters are interesting if a bit one dimensional, the pacing of the story is good, and you are sure of the ending til the last chapter.

Entertaining and a good listen

Brilliantly narrated, the story is shocking on so many levels. Twists and turns that had me literally calling out my reactions!
